Default Isolating Subwoofers

Hello everyone. I have been lurking around these pars for a while and finally registered. Seems like a friendly bunch here with less attitude than many of the forums. Hope everyone's new year is going well and I look forward to contributing. So on to my question.

Can I get some input on the best ways to isolate a subwoofer from a house with wooden floors and crawl space underneath. I have read about the Auralex Sub-Dude but was hoping for some cheaper more DIY options.

I picked up some bricks today to see how these work. I have not had a chance to play any movies yet or spend any real time listening. I decided to try two different methods. The first one just lifts the sub at each corner and lets the driver fire into the carpet and, the other will consist of a brick based platform which lets the driver fire into carpet. Both set up's will bring the sub 2" from the ground.

If all else fails I may just pony up the cash for the Auralex. But I figured for 5.00 bucks this was not a bad idea to try out and it saves money that I can put towards a parametric eq.

Thanks again for any help.

I can't see how bricks will help unless you put a piece of foam between the floor and bricks and bricks and sub.

try this

build a wooden box, about two inches high and the same length and width as the sub and fill with dry sand. cheap to make and works great.

Thanks foe the input. I will have to give that a try. The bricks at each corner have actually helped. I watched a couple of movies last night and noticed the bass seems clearer with less transfer to the floor. I had used bricks in the past for speakers stands which is where the idea for the sub came from.

Thanks Again.
