It all depends really. Sometimes I find the different travel sites cheaper (i.e. travelocity, orbitz etc.), but sometimes the airline site itself is a better deal. If you find a good deal on one of the travel sites, look up the exact same flight on the Airline's site and sometimes you'd be surprised that it's cheaper.
Also, you can get Best Buy reward points if you go through their "online mall" for most travel sites if you want. |

is booking directly through the airline reliable? I dont want to spend $500 , get no tickets, or get tickets, and have problems at the airprot also how does the BBRP work? |

I recommend jetblu, have always had good experiences with booking/flight/etc
I usually book from their website.. compare rates.. even if the site is a few bucks more expensive, I'll still deal with the official site.. not that 3rd party sites are bad, just my personal preference. |

Book on wednesday or thursday morning. I usually save at least a $100 off my ticket. Of course check prices now first to make sure they actually went down. If they haven't on wednesday then still wait to thursday to be sure.

If you have a Best Buy reward zone card then you go to myrewardzone.com (if you don't have one they're free to get). You then just click a link that takes you to the travel site and purchase tickets like normal. Once you accrue 250 points you get a $5 certificate to use at Best Buy. Usually it's 1 point for every dollar, but some are 2 or 3 points per dollar. It's just a nice perk if your going to be making the purchase anyway. |

I've never had issues booking with a 3rd party (orbitz, expedia, etc) or with the airline's website directly. With AirTran, you'll need to make sure you/your mother checks in online 24 hours prior to the flight to make sure you get the seat you want.
Don't be afraid to check Delta either. My wife and I bought tickets from Tampa to Buffalo and back for $49 each way. |
