Default Booking a Flight question

I plan on taking my mom to FL for her birthday

I was wondering where the best place to book is?

Travelocity?
Cheaptickets?
or the airline ( airtran )?

It all depends really. Sometimes I find the different travel sites cheaper (i.e. travelocity, orbitz etc.), but sometimes the airline site itself is a better deal. If you find a good deal on one of the travel sites, look up the exact same flight on the Airline's site and sometimes you'd be surprised that it's cheaper.

Also, you can get Best Buy reward points if you go through their "online mall" for most travel sites if you want.

Yea Airtran seemed to be about $20 cheaper than the other two and can use that $20 savings twards checked bags

is booking directly through the airline reliable?

I dont want to spend $500 , get no tickets, or get tickets, and have problems at the airprot

also how does the BBRP work?

I recommend jetblu, have always had good experiences with booking/flight/etc

I usually book from their website.. compare rates.. even if the site is a few bucks more expensive, I'll still deal with the official site..

not that 3rd party sites are bad, just my personal preference.

Book on wednesday or thursday morning. I usually save at least a $100 off my ticket. Of course check prices now first to make sure they actually went down. If they haven't on wednesday then still wait to thursday to be sure.

Yep Airtran is usually pretty cheap and I've never had any problems booking directly through the airline either. I've flown with them many times and never had problems. I don't know where your flying from but Spirit Airlines is even cheaper but they have a pretty limited airport list.

If you have a Best Buy reward zone card then you go to myrewardzone.com (if you don't have one they're free to get). You then just click a link that takes you to the travel site and purchase tickets like normal. Once you accrue 250 points you get a $5 certificate to use at Best Buy. Usually it's 1 point for every dollar, but some are 2 or 3 points per dollar. It's just a nice perk if your going to be making the purchase anyway.

yea i read that on a site

on Airtrans site it was $480 to book thursday morning flight out and like a wednesday morning return

When time comes Il probably book with them

Cheaptickets, and Travelocity were $500 plus the bagage fees.

Cool thanks, Id be flying from Richmond Va, instead of CHO airport, sense Richmond is bigger and has those cheaper airliens(airtran), I dont think I saw one for Spirit.

Thanks for the info

I've never had issues booking with a 3rd party (orbitz, expedia, etc) or with the airline's website directly. With AirTran, you'll need to make sure you/your mother checks in online 24 hours prior to the flight to make sure you get the seat you want.

Don't be afraid to check Delta either. My wife and I bought tickets from Tampa to Buffalo and back for $49 each way.

a site like sidestep.com will allow you to compare all airlines (except Southwest) - then go to the airline's website to book the same fare (without site booking fees)
