Just bought Speed tonight. I read Liebman's review yesterday, and four more tonight. Apparently, the sound is awesome and the picture is excellent for a 1994 film, and very good overall.

I have a question about the "core" 1.5mbps DTS-HD MA soundtrack I've read in a couple of reviews. This BD did come out in November 2006, and apparently the hardware limited these reviewers to a "core" soundtrack.

Does that mean, with newer players released in 2008, we will be able to get the full DTS-HD MA track?

I just watched Speed last night, and overall, it is a very good BD. However, I noticed one flaw, but maybe it's just my disc. I believe it's around the 1 hr 10 min 36 sec mark, when Dennis Hopper says something to Keanu over the phone. What Hopper is saying doesn't match his lips at all, just for about two seconds tops. I hope I don't ruin anyone's enjoyment of this film, but I just wanted to know if other people have already noticed this.

yeah it was like that in theaters back in the day when it was first released... i'm sure it was an MPAA thing back then hehehee..

Are you referring to the "I want you back real fast" line? Because it's always been like that. I remember seeing that on the VHS when I was a kid. It was just a line they dubbed in during post production.

i remember rewinding that scene several times when i was a kid, my brothers and me got a kick out of that!

Practically no extras, though.

If you are fan of the movie, don't hesitate, get it. I can assure you won't be disappointed.

LOL. That passenger was really weird. Same actor who plays Cam in Ferris Bueller. I never noticed that trick that Sandra Bullock did with her gum until I just watched it. Smooth move.


Watching this on Blu-ray added a whole new dimension to this film, since the last time I saw it was on VHS. That theme song sounds so much cleaner. The audio is really spectacular. Just think about all those crashes into road signs, cars, that one dude's car who crashes into those water jugs, the bomb explosions, and I completely forgot about the subway train flying through construction zone. Video is really good too.

Just recently picked this up at Best Buy for $10, a favorite of mine. Does anyone know what kind of bus they use at the airport to offload the passengers? It is white and orange, says LAX on the side, has an entry/exit door on the front of the bus. I've been searching the web for it and can't find it.

I bought the VHS when I was a kid too and remember seeing this as well. Honestly, I have wondered for years what it was that he was really saying before they dubbed over it with the line that is in the movie now.
