Default Sony Blu-ray BDPS350 player firewall help

Im attempting to get this player on my network, but i think i need to open a port in my firewall to do so. I've found a few sites to help me with the actual process of port forwarding through my 2wire gateway modem but what im confused with is WHICH port the sony blu-ray player needs open in order to appear on the network. Any ideas on what port number i should be using or can it just be a random number?

Are you getting network errors, you shouldn't have to do any port configuration...

I believe it is just using your http port (80).

Make sure you have the player off and then plug in the ethernet to both the player and the router, then reset the router by unplugging the power and plugging it back in and wait for it to completely power up. Then, turn on the Blu-Ray player. You shouldn't have to change any settings unless you've got an advanced home network.

It just says it can't connect to the network.
When i pull up my network sharing center on my vista pc it says theres a network there but its unidentified. Does this mean i have to know a certain password or something like that?

whoops. meant to point out that im plugging it into my laptop, which is getting a wireless signal from my router. I can plug my xbox into the laptop and still get a signal to play xbox live. I just can't remember how i did it now lol.

Nope. No password. It says unidentified because Vista allows you to save your current networking settings and label them as either "Home, Home 2, work, work 2", etc... and you didn't save it, no big deal.

haha gotcha. Didn't know Xbox Live allowed that. I would suggest moving the router near the Blu-Ray player and Xbox(especially for Xbox Live so theres no lag).

That is your problem, you will need a wireless gaming adaper or a hardline.
