Default HT-SR800 onkyo 7.1 settings help& general info

Hi, I have the Panasonic DMP-BD55 I have it hooked to a HT-SR800 onkyo 7.1 system I have it hdmi to teh tv, 7.1 anolog fromt he player to the reciever and also a optical from teh player to the reciever. I was wondering what should the settings be inside the reciever? for audio and what not. speakers large? the bass managment and stuff like that.The tv is a samsung hlt6176 thanks.

P.S also what are the specs for this receiver? is it anygood?

What about the crossover? I have it at 80 right now.
Also When I used the SLP meter I set the front left speaker to 0 and then raised the master VOl to get to the 75 mark on the meter, I then raised or lowered the rest of them is that right?

Also my reciever has Double bass option where it will send the bass to teh fronts and the sub as long as the fronts are set to large.. thanks
