Alright guys here are my settings that I use for my Vizio GV42L:
Picture menu Backlight: 60 Contrast: 80 Brightness: 58 Color: 53 Tint: +2 Sharpness: 5 Custom color temperature Red: 128 Green: 127 Blue: 116 Advanced picture adjust DNR: Off Black level extender: Off White peak limiter: Off CTI: Off Flesh tone: Off Adaptive luma: Off Dynamic contrast: Off I've had this TV for awhile now and though I'm not happy with the TV on a whole I'm really happy with these settings for PQ. I pulled these off of the CNET tips and tricks, but it was for a dark room so I turned the Backlight up to 60 as opposed to 6 for a medium bright room. I have a PS3, 360, Tivo 2, and a Comcast HD DVR. These settings seem to work well with all of the components, unlike some of the other settings I've used that need to be changed with brighter or darker scenes. I've got to wait a little while longer to upgrade, but since I've found these settings I'm not quite as bummed as I was. Last edited by Grisle; 03-14-2008 at 10:20 AM. |

Picture Setting:
Picture Mode: Custom Backlight: 90 Contrast: 80 Brightness: 50 Color: 65 Tint: +2 Sharpness: +5 Color Temperature: Red: 128 Green: 128 Blue: 128 Advance Picture Adjust: DNR: Off Black Level Extender: On White Peak Limiter: On CTI: Off Flesh tone: Off Dynamic Backlight: Off Adaptive Luma: On I'm happy with these adjustments on my Vizio, not the greatest but very good. The problem i have with this tv is that it's so bright(i know lcd is brighter than plasma) that the black levels are hard to adjust to get the "right" look so i turning a notch down on brightness and raising the backlight helped a lot! |

This thread is intended for members to share their custom picture settings for all Vizio model TV's.
To help make life easier for others...please try to include (but not limited to): TV Model Number? Weather it's an ISF Calibrated setting or Disc calibrated setting? What Input Connection this setting is used for? (ex. HDMI, Component, Composite etc) What device is connected? (dvd player, bluray player, cable tv ..etc) What kind of room lighting you have? (dark, dim, bright etc) Any key features that are turned on or that should be turned off? Additional Info: *Calibrate Your HDTV* *Please do not criticize settings being shared...it is a courtesy to those who cannot afford an ISF calibration or do not own a calibration dvd. *Please also keep in mind that using someone else's settings may look good but it does not necessarily mean it will be ideal for your viewing pleasure and may require some tweaking. *It is also NOT recommended for anyone to go into the Service Menu to make any adjustments. ![]() |

This was a bargain TV purchased from Walmart and it's VERY aggressive in terms of PQ. After going through some calibration settings w/ various options - Sony Disc's Color Bars, AVIA, THX Optimizer; here are the settings that look absolutely astounding to me.
Picture Mode: Movie Backlight: 78 Brightness: 49 Contrast: 58 Color: 39 Tint: 0 Sharpness: 4 Color Temperature: Normal ---Advanced Video--- DNR: Off Black Level Extender: On White Peak Limiter: Off CTI: Off Flesh Tone: Off Adaptive Luma: Off The PQ looks great but I'm not a videophile, but I'm very pleased with these settings. After having this tv for nearly 2 years, I think I have finally tweaked the settings to have the best picture possible. This worked on Kindgom of Heaven and the Bourne Collection. At fist the images were faded, grainy/noisy, and just not as sharp as I have seen these tvs displayed at Sams Club and online pictures. Then I started tweaking myself, and the results came out great. Try these and see if they are as good for you as they are for me.
