Cool Eternal Sonata – Released This Week!

Publisher: Namco Bandai Games
Developer: Tri-Crescendo
Platform: PLAYSTATION®3 Computer Entertainment System
Genre: Turn-Based Action RPG
Players: Single-Player with 1-3 Local Players in Battle
Rating: “T” for Teen

Released on Blu-ray Disc: OUT NOW

OVERVIEW

On his deathbed, the famous composer, Chopin, drifts between this life and the next. In his final hours, he experiences a fantastical dream where he encounters a young girl facing a terrible destiny and the boy who will fight to save her. On the border between dreams and reality, Chopin discovers the light that shines in all of us in this enduring tale of good and evil, love and betrayal.

Developed by Tri-Crescendo and featuring the music of Chopin, Eternal Sonata delivers amazingly detailed 3D graphics, a captivating storyline with over 30 hours of gameplay and an innovative action battle system.

STORYLINE

It was a world of dreams…

Late on the night of October 16, 1849, in an apartment at 12 Place Vendome in the heart of Paris, Frédéric François Chopin, known as the poet of the piano, dreams his last dream while lying in his sickbed. It is a dream of a beautiful, magical world, like something from a fairy tale.

In that world, those with incurable illnesses are able to harness the power of magic. He encounters a young girl facing a terrible destiny and the boy who will fight to save her. Though he first thought that this world is just a fantasy, an illusion created by his mind, Chopin realizes that there might be more to this place.

A world of vivid colors. A world that feels so real. Can this truly be just a dream?

FEATURES
  • Custom-Made for Next-Gen: Enjoy amazing, high-definition, anime style cel-shading and high quality textures shine to truly deliver an awesome next gen experience.
  • Innovative Battle System: Battle using a unique hybrid turn based/action RPG system that combines free-roam and turn-based action (up to three players during battle).
  • Strategic Use of Light and Darkness: Adjust your battle strategy in the ongoing struggle between light and darkness. Beware of enemies lurking in the shadows, as their stats – attacks and potency – will change, as will their physical form. Lure them out into the light or destroy them there in the cloak of darkness. Also, change your special attacks depending on whether you are in the light….or in the dark.
  • Dramatic and Evolving Storyline: Experience a deeply moving story focusing on the enduring struggle between good and evil all while taking place in a dream during the final 3 hours of world-famous music composer Frederic Chopin’s life.
  • Mesmerizing Music: Listen as world-renowned pianist Stanislav Bunin performs Chopin’s original compositions, which are a key element in the environment and story of Eternal Sonata.

Exclusive titles going non exclusive is becoming a growing trend these days. Makes me wonder if there will be any third-party exclusive games at all two or three years from now.

Now THIS is good news. This game is one of those games that would make me buy a 360 for.

Bring it!

Oops, another clue that this game may be coming to PS3.

Beautiful Katamari may only be a time-exclusive, too.

Honestly I could care less what system this game is release on. It's not a game for me. Eternal Sonata looks pretty good.

Its true that companies like EA design for the worst case scenario (DVD and no HD, ie 360) But some multiplat games have shown to take advantage of BD and the PS3 hard drive.

I think 3rd part exclusives will be virtually non existant for the next couple of years. Right now games are being made down to the 360s spec. Once developers start getting experience with multi-cores, and start using 1080p/7.1pcm more regularly they might prefer the PS3 for their marquee titles.

EA lightening up it looks like. At least, they're not going to freaking cripple the PS3 software to account for their inability to do optimal multithread applications.

I'm really hoping Namco brings Katamari back to the PS3.

I thought MGS4 was one of the few titles we could count on as being a concrete exclusive (well atleast for 1-2 years)

I am also hoping for the rightful return of Katamari: the original games were two of my favorite reasons for owning a PS2, and my mouth literally fell open when I first read that Beautiful Katamari was to be an Xbox exclusive. It seemed like such a crappy thing to do to the franchise's fans...

Ha-HA! I was hoping for this. Makes a lot more sense to have it on PS3; I had to figure that, in Japan, Eternal Sonata would bomb hard on 360. However good the game might be, there's just no market for XBox in Japan.

I'll get this one for sure. Also hoping for Katamari.

Seems the 360 can lose exclusives too.

FWIW... in America, Lair was barely outsold by Blue Dragon in its first week.

The 360 fanbase just isn't hardcore into those type of games apparently.

I'm having doubts as to whether Ace Combat 6 is exclusive or not.

People in Japan won't buy an X360 just for AC6, but they will buy the game if it was on the PS3.

Namco are all about the multi-plat games these days, hopefully Tekken 6 won't go that way.

Blue dragon was also a brutal game though. 4-5 disks of generic gameplay/story from what I hear. And yeah the market for 360 rpgs is small.
