How does it all work? (Xbox live)

I hear all the time that people with Xbox's can't go online without paying but is that totally true?

So if i had COD4 and wanted to go online but didn't have a ? (paid subscription) it just wouldn't let me?

Not flaming here (just trying to understand) but why is it up to Microsoft? Surely it would be infinity ward that should be paid? (their servers etc)

Infinity Ward might get a kick back, I don't know for sure. But to play COD4 online you have to have xbox live gold which is what this card is for. Typical price is $50 for year but there are always deals to be had.

With xbox live gold you get unlimited hd streaming from netflix assuming you have an unlimited dvd package with them. You also get messaging in all games, chat in all games and party's etc.

XBOX Live SILVER is for downloading demos, marketplace games, videos, movies, basically ANYTHING besides online gaming.

XBOX Live GOLD is everything Silver has INCLUDING online gaming (plus you get certain downloads in advance of silver members).

$30 for 13 months is a steal!!

No doubt. I was going to let mine lapse next month but I think I'll pick this up at this price.

*edit* Bought it. Thanks OP! Happy birthday to me!

I thought you had to have gold for netflix streaming, can you do it with silver?

You can buy two and pay roughly what the typical price is. I think three is the max you can buy at once.

I hear they are going to have the same deal at buy.com on Monday. I personally am going to wait for that to avoid tax charges.

Amazon has had the 13 month card for about $42 or so for a while now.

Actually, just checked it and it's 38.99 for a 13 month card. Good deal, but not great like the walmart one.
