Lord of the Rings: Conquest - Questions - Blu-ray Forum

Alright - I loved Star Wars: Battlefront I and II. I love LOTR. Is this game, thus, something I'd enjoy? I don't play many games these days (only own both Resistances as PS3 games) - so what do you know about this game? Personal opinions aside, of course.

I couldn't stay interested in Battlefront, and I got bored with the LOTR Conquest demo... But you may like it since they're similar... Just not my cup of tea, I suppose.

It's similar, but very different at the same time. It's really worth a download of the demo for you to decide for yourself. I liked both the Battlefront games, but this games bores me. Maybe it's the fact that not everybody is shooting and people can run away from you backwards and kill you if you're using a sword and they're using Magic or a Bow

i don't like shooters. AT ALL... and i love battlefront for several reasons, i do also enjoy lord of the rings, i will be buying this game FOR SURE!!!

anyway, personal opinions aside, you should wait for a review or 2, as they will mention wether or not the story(single player mode) will be worthwhile or not.

that is unless you are looking for a MP battle game, then i wouldn't know what to tell yuo, just rent it first i guess...

Are you able to get some trophies (e.g. Backstab 10 eneamies as a scout) in Instant Action? It would make sense, or else you would have to get most of them in the campaigns.

I agree.. Get the Demo. If you're still unsure rent it... Some places (near me at least) have 1+ night rentals. You could get it for a night or 5 and see what's what... if you hate it you don't gotta get it. lol..

But I liked the demo. And thought it was very SWBF -ish. Plus there are cut scenes from the movie that looked great.

Yeah, it must be self evident that you can get trophies in Instant Action....

I just completed the Single Player campaign and played a little bit of multiplayer.

If you are a big LOTR fan as I am, then you'll love the Single Player. You actually get a trophy with Gollum on it for killing 300 Hobbits.... Anyway, single player is fun and everything, but its nothing to buy the game over.

Now the Multiplayer on the other hand is a different story. Think of it as Call of Duty as a 3rd Person shooter with different class systems. It really is a lot of fun and would be more fun once they solve the lag issues with the servers. I'm giving them a break as the game was released this week and its expected to be laggy.

Bottom line is that if you are big LOTR fan (like me) then this game is perfect. However, I recommend that you rent this title first as it may not be what you expect.

Did you play as both good and evil? Do you have to decide at the beginning if you want to be good or not?

FYI I responded again to your PSN message.

Unfortunately you do not as you get to do in Battlefront. Its one of the reasons why I don't really promote the Single-Player portion as much.

Are you talking about just the first Battlefront? My friends were telling me that the campaign for that one is just a chain of battles. I have Battlefront 2 and i know for the campaign you can't choose evil or good since it follows the story of the Clones. Conquest does something similar, although you could just play Instant Action.

I think that I'm getting confused with a different setting in Battlefront similar to Instant Action which is seperate than the Single Player. Thanks for reminding me!

lol no problem! I am getting Conquest very soon and i just want to clarify something: i could get trophies like "A knife in the dark" (10 backstab kills) in Instant Action, right? Since it doesn't specify, i could do it on offline co-op/insant action as well?

I think it will work. Just be careful if it states 'Ranked' next to it as I tried to do the Frodo/Ring one, but it wasn't a 'Ranked' Ring match.

I just wish someday some company would make a "smarter" LOTR game instead of the mindless endless 90's type of action as seen so far in every LOTR game, even in the MMO. I wont be buying this one either, too bad, the characters look pretty good, just dont feel like slashing for hours without much else.

Yeah i thought about that. I just want to be able to have a friend over and help me out in Instant Action (or even the campaigns themselves) to get those "kill __ eneamies" trophies.
