In just a few short years, Notorious B.I.G. rose from the streets of Brooklyn to become one of the most influential hip hop artists of all time. B.I.G. was a gifted storyteller; his narratives about violent life on the streets were told with a gritty, objective realism that won him enormous respect and credibility. His stories were universal and gave a voice to his generation.

If you let my daughter go now, that will be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you. And I will kill you.”

With these chilling words to a member of a band of kidnappers, former government operative Bryan Mills begins the longest 96-hours of his life – and the hunt for the fearsome organization that has taken his daughter Kim.

Mills had only recently given up his government career as what he calls, a “preventer” – “I prevented bad things from happenings,” he says – to be near Kim, who lives with Bryan’s ex-wife Lenore and her new husband. To make ends meet, Bryan joins some former colleagues for special security details (like guarding a pop diva), but most of his time and energy are spent re-connecting with Kim.

Bryan’s familial goal is nearly derailed when Kim requests his permission to spend time in Paris with a friend. All too aware of the dangers that could lie ahead for Kim in a foreign land, Bryan says no, but Kim’s disappointment leads him to very reluctantly relent.

Bryan’s worst fears are realized when Kim and her friend Amanda are suddenly abducted – in broad daylight – from the Paris apartment at which they’ve just arrived. Moments before Kim is dragged away by the as yet unseen and unknown assailants, she manages to phone Bryan, who begins to expertly piece together clues that will take him to the darkness of Paris’s underworld, and to the City of Light’s plushest mansions. He will face nightmares worse than anything he experienced in black ops – and let nothing and no one stop him from saving his daughter.

His orderly, solitary existence is about to give way to a future of unlikely adventures and puzzling dilemmas: will Horten end up in a pair of women's red high-heeled shoes? Will he survive a nighttime drive with a blindfolded man at the wheel? Proof positive that there is humor to be found in aging, and we don't have to be elderly Norwegians to identify, laugh and embrace life in all its idiosyncratic splendor. O'Horton is Bent Hamer's wonderfully skewed view of the human condition and gives us that somewhat absurdist vision with great warth, a little melancholy and universal appeal.

May 22 - Night at the Museum 2: Escape from the Smithsonian

Security guard Larry Daley (Stiller) infiltrates the Smithsonian Institute in order to rescue Jedediah (Wilson) and Octavius (Coogan), who have been shipped to the museum by mistake.

July 1 - Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, to be fully produced in 3-D, is the third installment to the Ice Age franchise. This time around, dinosaurs burst onto the scene. Mammoth versus T-Rex? Someone seems to have their evolution upside down. Note to Fox and Blue Sky Studios: Dinosaurs come before the ice age, not afterward.

July 31 - They Came From Upstairs

Oh OK. As I was reading through the list I was thinking that FOX releases for 2009 seemed weak overall, especially when compared to the other studios. Hopefully FOX will release more films this year.

I was never a fan of the show or movie, so it certainly isn't on my list to see, but I have to laugh at the play on sequel . It is so cheesy to me, but funny and fitting too.

OK, onto what I would like to see for sure:

Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Night at the Museum 2: Escape from the Smithsonian

After seeing this list I think Fox really does deserve a boycott. I will probably see Wolverine but after X3 my expectations couldn't be lower.

Fantastic Mr. Fox was originally supposed to come out after "The Life Aquatic" because Wes Anderson was convinced no studio would give him money to make another huge, bloated film, but fox stepped up to the plate and produced the worst Wes Anderson movie to date, which is sad considering he is one of my favorite directors.

I think it's supposed to be claymation??? Henry Selick might be involved??

Anyone can be "on top" of all developments and news in the biz if one actually checks the trades (i.e. Variety and The Hollywood Reporter) and entertainment-inclined sites on a regular basis.
