so, i have been in the market for a new sub for a week or so to replace my psw10. i had pretty much narrowed it down to a hsu stf-2 or an ed a2-250(i know the 300 is the better performer, but space is definitely as issue). either one is really more than i need now. the living room in my townhome is pretty crowded as it is. so yesterday, i decided to check ebay just for kicks. i found someone selling a stf-1 for a "buy it now" price of...$60! i really couldn't pass that up. the stf-1 should fill my needs nicely for now, and when i move out of the townhome, i can definitely make my $60 back and them some. the only thing i'm worried about is the fact that it may not be legit. there were no actual pics of the sub, but the guy has 100% feedback and pretty much has said it's in good condition, only a few months old. so i suppose i'll just be anxious until it arrives. either way, i used paypal so i should have some sort of buyer protection if i've been screwed...

too good to be true...I got an email last night from the seller saying that he had "dropped" it while packing it for shipping, and it no longer powers on. Full refund is on the way. Ah well, it was worth a shot. So now I'm back to my decision between a hsu stf-2 and ed a2-250...decisions decisions...

Well, if you said a2-300 I'd vote for it even though I don't like some things about it. However, all things being equal, the Hsu is (in my opinion) a nicer looking sub with a smaller form factor. Both are quality subs.

thinking this through, I think my final choice will end up being the HSU VTF-1. To be totally idiotic, I made a paper model of the a2-250. I'm planning on putting the new sub just a few inches away from the couch; I'd be able to fit it, but like you've said, aramis, it would look rather odd. So now I just need to save 100 more bucks...
