AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME article!!!

Thanks you PolskAltima. I did not know Gran Torino was Made in Michigan. I don't know about you, but when I read that last paragraph, I actually got choked up a bit. I will be passing this on to my Dad, who also live here in AZ. He goes back at least twice a year for a week or two at a time. Unfortunatley, I only go back every other year, but I will always be from Detroit.

Some of my favorite quotes from the article are:

"Stardom is a funny thing here. You don't achieve it by talking loud or dating a supermodel. You achieve it by shyly lowering your head when they introduce you or by tossing the ball to the refs after scoring a touchdown. Humility, in Detroit, is on a par with heroism. Even Dennis Rodman didn't get really crazy until he left."

"It's not that we watch more, or pay more, or cheer louder than other cities. But I will bet you my last dollar that, when it comes to sports, nobody cares as much as Detroit cares."

glad you enjoyed the article!

yea a few parts of the article got me a little teary eyed...

im very proud to be from Detroit... even with all our faults...

it was a sad day in 97 when the limo crashed... Konstantinov was my favorite Wing...
also, to see what has become of Tiger Stadium...

I go back once or twice a year.

Lived in Michigan for my first 17 years and then I moved with my mom to California.

I've been here for 4 years now but I'm always from Michigan.

I make it known to everyone that I'm proud of it.

I met a lady yesterday that said she had 2 people move from detroit. Then she proceded to tell me how crappy our economy was, etc. etc. I got so worked up that I every time someone mentions detroit, I have to defend them.
