Square, Kingdom Hearts 3, and the PS3 - Blu-ray Forum

With last years betrayal of Final Fantasy XIII (for reasons of 'appealing to a bigger audience') and Square not bringing Star Ocean 4 to the PS3 (for reasons left to be speculated), a lot of PS3 owners, myself included, have a sour taste left in our mouth when it comes to Square.

My question is, can Square be redeemed by bringing Kingdom Hearts 3 exclusively to the PS3? Or has the damage been done for PS3 owners and Square titles?

If star ocean 4 does not make it to the ps3 in some form then no.. I will never forgive them...

honestly im not one of these people who cries over exclusives .. very soon aside from the first party games there will be no such thing as exclusives .. games are just getting far too expensive to make to justify staying on one system .. trust me the only exclusives youll be seeing soon are garbage games that noone cares about ..
so as far as im concerned as long as the game i want is on MY system of choice .. i dont care ..

Kingdom Hearts was one of my favorites on the PS2. It would be wise for them to make it a PS3 exclusive, but they did bring the series to the DS (or was it the gameboy), what if it becomes a Wii exclusive?

Square will soon realize a few things; Giving the 360 priority last year cost them many game sales. Failing to port Star Ocean to PS3 will spell doom for the future of the franchise by cutting off its Japanese fanbase, and the fact is, Microsoft can't keep the payoffs going forever without invoking the wrath of their stockholders, thus the days of that strategy could be numbered.

I'd forgive Square-Enix fully if they both made an exclusive KH3 and a late port of Star Ocean. KH3 could happen; Tetsuya Nomura prefers PS3.

I'd expect Wada to "pursue other interests" long before the announcement of another exclusive PS3 game.

I was just about to post that. Nomura is pretty much THE reason Versus XIII is still exclusive.

Id say they could. Star Ocean is a pretty crappy series, so losing that isnt a big deal for me. But keeping KH would be huge.

But it would only be a first step. Square needs to bring a few new IPs to the PS3 to make up for all those RPGS the 360 got.

Personally I plan on buying a psp just for the original star ocean... := cause I love that game now I know there are others but that would be the top reason...

I put no, but not because I'm mad about the FFXIII thing. I actually don't really care at all if it goes to the 360 (except for the fact that I will likely have to wait longer now), I am however pissed off at them shunning us PS3 owners this entire generation.
I don't care if KH3 is exclusive or not, as long as it comes out for the PS3. If it doesn't, I will personally assassinate all those low lives.

MS probably fudges their income statements with fraudulent numbers....I mean tons of companies do it nowadays and don't get caught...

Personal preference I guess. I own dozens of PS1 and PS2 rpgs, and many of those are still my favorite games of all time, but I absolutely could NOT get into SO3. Hence, Im fine with not having SO4 on the PS3 (although not pleased its on the 360). From what Max said its a fairly poor selling series anyways.

Yeah, SO3 sucks. SO and SO2 are legit, though.

Square needs to pull their heads out of their butts. They made many a great game, but now they just shovel crap at everyone. I loved the old FFs games, even Secret of Mana and Secret of Evermore on the Super Nin. I miss the old days.

Even though I like SE and Disney, I didn't really get into the KH games. So KH3 wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. I would, however, be P/O'ed if a new Chrono game or a FFVII remake wasn't exclusive, though.

not that i liked kingdom hearts, but i know if there was a KH3, and sony didn't get it exclusively, there is no progress being made... rather a huge step back.
this game has a huge following i'm sure.

I'd rather see Disney take back the liscensing and do something Disney related without all of the Sora/Keyblade bs. (And preferably, it would be a Sony 1st/2nd party developer considering the BD relationship

)

I thought that Kingdom Hearts was good, but Disney's properties don't need the FF-ish trappings to be successful.

I never played the KH series. I've seen it and it looks cool and all, but the theme is just too young for me. I think SE will be fine as long as they don't do something like Star Ocean and make it 360 exclusive.

Ah but your damning the entire series over star ocean 3... which ill be honest went and did something really weird and out of it even for Star Ocean...

But Star Ocean 2nd story was a ps one game.. one that I bought 3 times...

To me the star ocean 2 suikoden, and grandia were some of the best rpgs ive played on the playstation system again my opinion..

The item building system was alot better in SO2 and SO1 then the odd factory system they created in SO3.. personally if SO4 does not make it to the ps3 then that would be a extremely strong blow for me it would be like announcing the cancellation of FF13 and FF13 Versus at the same time... for me.

Well anyway thats what I have to say about that..
