Default help me decide on what to buy thread # 999,999 lol

PLEASE HELP ME!!

I'm back and forth on what to buy to upgrade my old receiver, front speakers, and center channel. Recently ordered a new sub, but am running a 4+ year old Pioneer 7.1 ch receiver and some jbl towers with CV center channel. I'm not rich by any means, so I want to make good choices as I'll be stuck with them for a long while. I've done a lot of research into pioneer elite and onkyo receivers, and as far as speakers i've looked at kilpsch, deftech, and b&w's. My question is this, if you had a budget of 2,000.00 and wanted to add all 4 pieces at one time (center, 2 towers (fronts), and a receiver), what would your breakdown be on brands/models to fill the bill? I've gone back and forth on spending more on the receiver (say 800-1000) and a little less on the speakers, or possibly getting a better receiver and center and going with a nice set of bookshelfs from b&w (600.00) instead of the higher dollar and possibly lesser sound quality towers that are 600-800+ pair. Anyway, your suggestions for any and all of the 4 pieces would be greatly appreciated. Worse case scenario I may just use an existing piece i already own in order to get better quality on 3 of the items. Ideally I'd like to buy all 4 and forget about anything except blu ray disc purchasing for another year or two.

Default I would spend $1000 to $1200 on the speakers....

That is a hard choice as speakers are very selective but I'd spend more on the speakers than anything else and even consider going used on the electronics as people upgrade often on that and you can get last years model, etc. cheap. I would recommend to get the towers and center the same brand as you want it to sound smooth. The sub can be any brand and might be something you get later? I have a hard time recommending brands as I have been spoiled so you are right around the price but a bit shy to get out of the mass produced brands.... shop locally to hear them then buy online and save money for the speakers.

thanks for the replies guys...i think i've decided on a pioneer elite receiver after doing some more research tonight online and in person at some local electronic stores. It's gonna give me all the current hd decoding i need, hdmi inputs, and power. It's gonna leave me around 1250 for the fronts and center, so i'm gonna look around at what I can find for that amount. Probably pick up just some b&w fronts or only a nice b&w center, and then save up the difference to add the matching pieces to complete the trio at a later date.

If you get a chance to try and audition some Paradigm speakers as well as the B&W's. I have some Paradigm's and they have a great warm and natural sound to them.
