I FINALLY received an email from Funai regarding the Insignia brand player (which i returned for a PS3) and decided it was good to share this information. Hope it helps.
Hi Joe! Thank you for contacting Insignia about your NS-2BRDVD Insignia Blu-ray Disc Player with 1080p Output. I will do my best to assist you so you can start enjoying your product right away! First of all, Joe, let me apologize for the time that it took me to provide you with a response. At this moment we are experiencing a higher than normal quantity of E-mails. I understand that this is no excuse, however I hope that you don't take this delay as a lack of consideration towards our customers. We care about our customers and we are constantly working to improve our products performance and our customer care. As you have explained in your E-mail, you needed to know when a firmware update would be available. Regarding your concern, firmware updates are released whenever we need to add functionality to the player. There are no firmware updates available for this product yet, but there will be one by February. I recommend that you check our website during the next few weeks for further information about new firmwares. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. I hope that you find this E-mail helpful, and just in case you need anything else remember that you can contact Insignia Products Customer Support at 1-877-467-4289 and provide the agent with your case number: . yeah it sucks really bad for those who are stuck without a firmware update.. i hate that those cant enjoy what we spent a lot of money on.
