Default UK 360 users may see IPTV in 2009

http://i.gizmodo.com/5128570/xbox-36...ng-and-testing

If you UK guys get it.... be sure to let the rest of us know how it is.

I've been using my 360's as a "Tivo" device since I got my launch unit back in Dec of '05... so I can already watch and record live television from my 360's... but IPTV is supposed to have a lot of nice features. Good luck.... I hope you get it in 2009 and we get it stateside soon after.

Call me a sceptic, but BT are pretty useless when it comes to doing anything useful so I will believe it when I see it.

If this was down to MS I think it would get done, but as it is for BT to sort, I can't see it happening in any sort of useful timeframe.

As a BT member of staff I can tell you that this was pulled from the development schedule back in August I think (I'd have to check the documentation) and its not currently in the Retail pipeline. Even at concept level. I'll have a look later.

Ahh, my view about BT proved correct!

It didn't make any sense, the number of 360 users in the UK is 3.2m which is not a market big enough to be worth the initial outlay unless MS were going to pay for the whole thing!

Rejected and cancelled it seems. 12th August. Oh well.

It would've been really good, and a serious challenge to the PS3s Media capability (PlayTV is good but not that good). There's loads of cutbacks though at the moment.
