Default Anyone Else Not Like Clint Eastwood (Dirty Harry)?

Am I the only one that is NOT a fan? Especially this new film he is in. I think he tries way too hard to be macho in trailer and it just looks terrible. Especially for his age.

I dunno, I just never been a fan of the guy.

I have been a very big fan of Clint since he was The Man With No Name, although I have not seen his new film.

It's a hit or miss with me for his movies. I love him in most of his westerns. I never liked any of the Dirty Harry movies, just not my type of movies. I did like him a lot in Heartbreak Ridge.

It depend's on the movie I guess

You certainly have a right to your opinion. I like Clint Eastwood. You should go see his new film Gran Torino. I think you would like it.

I'm not a fan, may be because of how much I hated Million Dollar Baby. I can't stand movies like that which are made purely to win Oscars. That's just my opinion, I know some people liked it, but it just seemed like Oscar bait. I was never into westerns so I haven't seen a lot of Eastwood's work.

I'd be willing to bet that the person who started this thread is probably not much older than 20.

Kids.......didn't even know movies existed before 1990.

Obviously likes and dislikes are matters of opinion rather than fact, but not liking Clint Eastwood begs the question of what this guy has seen because it sounds like he hasn't seen very much if anything at all besides maybe Absolute Power. Clint Eastwood simply has to many fantastic movies. Of course some people are put off by bravado and manliness and look to people like Hugh Grant and Woody Allen and symbols of masculinity. I wouldn't know since I don't know the poster. Again though, taste always has and always will be subjective. For the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would like Indy 4 or Quantum of Solace but people do and are not wrong because of it.

All the Dirty Harry Movies
The Man with no name Spaghetti Westerns
High Plains Drifter
Unforgiven
Coogan's Bluff
Million Dollar Baby
A Perfect World
Heartbreak Ridge
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Escape from Alcatraz
Where Eagles Dare

Those are just a few....

Watch the movie. He's not so much being macho as a stubborn racist.

Macho bugs the shit out of me...

I have never been a tremendous fan of Clint Eastwood, however, there have been many of his films that I have enjoyed very much.

Clint Eastwood is one of the greatest "movie stars" of all time-- on top
of that he is a very talented director and an underrated actor.
I'm clueless on why somebody wouldn't like him...

This is an absurd statement. There's no way to predict, especially based on reading a script, what is going to be nominated for an Oscar. So to think that Eastwood read the script and said, "Hey everyone, let's make this to get nominated!" is ridiculous. If it were that easy, every filmmaker would make that their goal and no movie would get bad reviews. That's just my opinion.

I am 28

Only two films in that list I heard of is Million Dollar Baby and Escape from Alcatraz. I think I have seen Alcatraz. Don't remember though. I honestly don't have a desire to see them.

A racist? Interesting. Could not tell from the trailer. Probably won't ever watch it. Just not my cup of tea.

And Hollywood would be out of business, afterall while Oscar winners are usualy great movies to watch with wonderful acting, they sure are not the ones who fill up the bank accounts, that would be the none Oscar movies that usualy do that.
