Default Calling All Cars!

Released: Thursday May 10th 2007

Calling All Cars! looks set to be the most popular PlayStation Network title yet with addictive bumper-to-bumper criminal busting online and off. Multiplayer includes up to four player splitscreen and a highly robust online mode with voice and text communication. Two players on one PLAYSTATION 3 can play splitscreen with 2 other players online.

IGN posted their review a couple of nights back.

IGN Review

Anyone interested in this game? I don't know if a demo's due next Thursday too.

I'm buying this one no questions asked. It sounds like an awesome party game, and the two-player split screen online multiplayer (mouth full) is an addition I wish was in more games. Like IGN said, it's just the cost of a few beers, and it'll be fun for a while it looks, with its simple yet very crazy and balanced gameplay.

It was supposed to be released on the 19th of April though, please don't delay it again!

jaffe said on his blog he was happy with an 8.5 considering it only took 11 months to make the game and at a very low cost relative to regular games.

I think there is a demo already out? I know I played it a bit somewhere... unless I dreamed it... LOL

But yeah, I am highly interested in this one. I will more than likely be buying.

Maybe the single player AI will be more fun, less perfect then. It must be both nice and annoying to get reviews slating a part of a game you can still improve if you delay.

There needs to be a lot more downloadables like this on the PS store. Actually I think that the store is sucking right about now.

So what are they fixing all the stuff people knocked on it? It will be funny if it comes with more maps/weapons too, then all the other reviews will be obsolete. Or he can keep giving updated versions of it to different reviewers and keep tweaking it until this fall.

It's nice to see that some developers aren't caught up in the "it has to look next-gen" craze. Sometimes the good looking games just aren't fun, or turn out to be button-mashers.

My gf just loves that free demo with the ducks that became available last week on the Sony store. I'm thinking of buying it for her to play when she's here. Heck, it's only about $7 or $8.

Here is the release info for tonight PSN update.

Quote:
Play cops ‘n’ robbers on your PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) system this Thursday as Sony Computer Entertainment America will offer the much-anticipated PS3 exclusive, Calling All Cars™, on the PLAYSTATION®Store. Developed by Incognito Entertainment and overseen by the Spike TV Video Game Awards – 2005 Designer of the Year, David Jaffe, Calling All Cars was built specifically to take advantage of PS3 hardware, running at 1080p High Definition* at 60 frames per second for both offline and online gameplay, in either single-player or four-player split-screen.

Other new additions to the PLAYSTATION Store this week include the arcade classic, Rampart™, which is downloadable in its entirety, a video for the PS3-exclusive Warhawk™, and a trailer for Burnout™ Paradise.

Below are the details of these exciting new offerings:

* Calling All Cars Full Game ($9.99): Calling All Cars is a high-octane, fast-action game of cops ‘n' robbers from the creative director of the Twisted Metal® franchise and the original God of War®, David Jaffe. Take on the role of a bounty hunter careening around a stylish cartoon world on the hunt for criminals on the loose. With more than 10 vehicles and four different levels to choose from, Calling All Cars combines demolition derby style action, crazy weapon pickups, humor, and a throwback to classic arcade games.

* Rampart Full Game ($4.99): Defeat enemy ships while preventing your opponent from damaging castle walls! In this classic arcade title, strategy is the key to victory as you prepare for battle, build and repair your territories, and fire away at enemies.

* Warhawk Video (free): Learn about air combat and preview your arsenal of weapons in the latest video from Warhawk, the first multiplayer, fully immersive online-only game available this summer exclusively for the PS3 system.

* Burnout Paradise Trailer (free): Get a sneak peak at EA’s gorgeous racing title with this new trailer.

* Rampage™ Video (free): Prepare to re-live all of the incredible monster mashing mayhem in this Rampage World Tour video!
