United Kingdom Zavvi - Closing down deals

Zavvi is shutting its doors and there is a massive clearance sale. My mate just got the Matrix Trilogy for €24 euro (would be even cheaper in the UK store due the exchange rate) Single blus are going from about €11 - everything must go!!

I went down for a look today (UK). Nothing very worthwhile on Blu-ray at all. 20% off, but they were all £15 - £24 to start with. Some good deals on boxed TV sets on DVD. I bought the big Lebowski on DVD for about £2.40.

No special deals really at any of the Zavvi stores in my city. Although my local stores are not in the 22 which are being closed. So it would seem to me that if you live in an area where they are closing the store, then the deals might be very good indeed.

Here is a list of the 22 stores closing:

on the website itself? Dont think they are displaying prices and you can no longer buy from them online - in store only!

In Ireland we have 40% off MARKED prices! Most are 19.99 so with the 40% discount individual blu rays are just over €11

My mate got the Matrix trilogy for €22!

Picked up two BDs marked as €19.99 but with an extra 30% off Zavvi in Arklow. Hopefully someone buys them out as its nice having a store you can visit locally.

Zavvi is not in my area unfortunatly. It would of been nice to heve a store in my town only to see what deals they could of had after being in administration.

But to be honest I been to a couple of towns that had a Zavvi store just to check if there was a deal worth looking at and I was not impressed with the prices before they entered administration.

Some blu-rays were arround £20 but mostly I remember was £25 to £30 which was way over priced and after a looking in two or three stores I stopped looking in zavvi.

For those interested, Ernst & Young, the administrators of Zavi, have been closing the shops in waves - my local branch was in the initial wave of 22, then another batch went early last week including Piccadilly Circus, London (what used to be Tower Records). Last Thursday HMV said they had picked up 15 branches around the country, but what they haven't said is how many will re-open as HMVs, and how many will be FOPPs, as HMV run the latter brand as well.

Interesting times ahead.

Eh, I think the Zavvi sale's been pretty disappointing so far as far as blu-rays. Every time I've been in there's been nothing too exciting on offer.

Christ, even Woolworths had a few decent BD deals.
