The only movie that got me teary eyed as an adult (yeah, I did cry as a kid during Bambi and Ol' Yeller). Of all the gay-themed films that deserved to be the first to Blu-ray, this is the best, and most obvious, choice.

The universal themes of "what might have been", as well that of regret for *not* seizing the day, made it a great film, regardless of the orientation of the main characters.

It's a story that could not have been told any other way. True love knows no bounds. It's a really heart wrenching story. It really is. It's about not being who you really are on the inside. It's about not living your life to the fullest. It's also about living with regret.

Again, an excellent film on many levels and deserves the best treatment it can get.

saw the movie and felt it was highly overrated. the love story was non-existent and the characters were truly awful. you couldn't root or feel for any of them really. they treated each other awful. has to be one of the worst movies i've seen. i did think the cinematography was good though.

I actually got more emotional in King Kong but I still thought it was a great movie.

I'm a fan of Heath Ledger, but it disturbs the hell out of me that another man can find this movie entertaining.

The film disgusted the hell out of me. Yes, I was forced to see it.

So says the man that watches other men run around in tight fitting outfits and slapping each other on the arse all while chasing balls.

Go figure.

Thumbs down

It's really disappointing to see the juvenile homophobic comments this release has induced.

moviefan even went so far as to say this in the news comment section:

"Oh Boy!
%$% in high definition!
No thanks."

Sometimes the content can ruin it for you. I feel the same way about movies like Oldboy and other similar Asian films that seem to have a violence and incest fetish.

It's not so much that them being gay bugs me, but how they go about it. They're unfaithful, drunkards, and have mental issues. I see it as an examination of how an affair can affect many different people, and in this case a homosexual one.

Not so much? Did you like There Will Be Blood, or Taxi Driver or Raging Bull?

Drinkmore - you obvioulsy get the entire gist of this film. There is so much more depth to this great piece of work than people too intent on stating their sexuality could ever understand. I suppose some prefer the basic explode 'em, crash 'em up "epics" that are prevalent these days. Ang Lee is a genius.

To be fair, those guys aren't doing what Heath and Jake did in the tent.

Unfortunately, we have many immature people here who should be dismissed.

Wow. Unfaithful drunkards that have mental issues. Oh well, to each their own

There is quite a bit of depth to it. Again, it is a master piece and Ang Lee was a genius in creating it. I actually caught part of it on HD yesterday. Looked good too.

I don't know, maybe if there was ever a tent out on the field we could see if anyone would use it?

I'm offended by anyone who thinks the subject matter is offensive and I have every right to be.

People are completely allowed to not want to see the movie because the subject matter doesn't look like something they are interested in. But to be OFFENDED by it is a completely different story.

If you're so offended that you have to make a statement on a public forum about it, you've got some serious internal hate issues going on that you need to deal with. It's 2009. Wake up and smell it.

Whoaaaa...For the record. I did not say that I thought it was offensive. I was trying to say, that we should not be critical of others opinions. It appeared that we were getting a little bashing going on and I was trying to be the peacemaker.

No. I know you didn't. I believe I 100% have the right to be offended and critical of someone's opinion when they say there's something wrong with who I am.
