Does anyone already have it? Any positive or negative opinions?
For those who haven't heard of it http://www.roku.com/default.aspx Considering getting one because I use Instant Watch but don't like using my monitor. |

I was thinking of buying another one, but I may just buy a Blu-ray player with this service built-in. Just need to take some time and research them a little.

I don't have one but I heard positive review about it. But IMO, if you have a computer (which I think we all do) and a LCD (which I think the majority of us do) then it is not necessary to have a ROKU. You can hook up your comp to the LCD with a VGA cable. Just streamline the movie directly from your comp to the TV.

We enjoy our Roku box. The latest update really improved the service. We went from two dots of quality to four dots. The HD movies look pretty good. They aren't blu-ray quality but they are decent. I've watched the movie "Cashback" in HD about three times.
Probably our favorite thing about Netflix/Roku is watching some of these offbeat foreign films that you can't find anywhere else. |

Plus, the PC version isn't HD. I've heard good things about the Roku box. I know the streaming itself is good because I have the LGBD300 and an Xbox 360. :P Last edited by John Dorian; 01-22-2009 at 03:02 PM. |

I just got the Roku today and I'm watching Underdog now. The quality of the Roku isn't up to par with the Samsung BD-P2550. I will give the Roku a little time and if it still disappoints, then I'll ebay it and get another 2550.
It is great for streaming TV shows you may have been a little slow on. I watched Heroes season2 1 and 2 on the 2550 and couldn't have been more impressed. I really wonder how different the 2 players are. I will switch them to make sure its not the internet connection. |

I have a couple of Roku HDMI streaming sticks, the 3500 and the 3600.
I recently ordered a new remote to use with the 3600, the Roku RC127. For $20 it will allow me to have volume control for my TV that I use in the living room in one remote. Even more than TV channels, when you change from one Roku channel to another, the volume level delivered can vary greatly. But if you're new to Roku, just get the Roku HDMI stick 3800, which comes with the RC127 remote. If you have 4K, then they have other Roku devices for that. |
