I can't comment on any reviews or quality. I am currently looking at the 56A650 vs a 42-46" Panasonic plasma myself and can't find too many people with one to comment on it. Everyone on this forum seems to have and love their plasmas and quickly jump all over other people for having differing opinions (more or less). |

Well
I own the HL56A650 and am very happy with it so far. Just know that you will have a bulb and it will need to be changed. Also samsungs have had issues with color wheels going out or being noisy. I purchased the 4 year extended warranty so no worries though. I guess i would say that if you have the room for a 72 then go for it. Has 3 hdmi inputs and is 1080p. I have a playstation 3 hooked up and cable. I am very pleased with my purchase. Again do a little reading on dlps. Some will say they have bad viewing angles and bad black levels. Im have mine in the basement with very little light from outside so perhaps i dont have the issues some do. But as far as price for the size then go dlp. Just make sure you look into extended warranty for them because of the bulb replacement and insurance on the color wheel thing. I also own a 720p plamsa and a lcd tv as well. I was a tv repair guy for a year and a half, then i worked at a higher end home audio/video installation and sales place. I would say that DLP compares side by side with LCD and plasma any day. I know the fan boys of both will say theirs is better. I also understand that DLP has some things it does not do as good as the others. But im sure that you can get that 72 inch dlp for wayyyyyy less then a 72 inch would cost with the other current tech. Last edited by TVguy86; 01-21-2009 at 09:45 PM. |

I currently have the HL56A650 DLP, which was given to me on trade by Samsung for the issues I was having with my previous DLP. I'm not gonna bash this TV but if you are the critical type on performance this might not be the TV for you. If you are looking for a big picture on the cheap, the issues I've noticed might not bother you.
The HL56A650 has very poor black levels (could call them gray). Light bleeds through into the upper black bar when viewing widescreen. I've noticed an hour glass shape to 4:3 material. I can say it has a nice picture. There was a review of a HLxxA650 series DLP not that long ago "I think in Home Theater Magazine". Should be available on their website. Basically I would just say don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. I had no real choice in the matter, but now I'm moving on to greener pastures. No more HL56A650 for me, DLP hasn't been too kind to me.......... Last edited by mdabb; 03-10-2009 at 01:42 AM. Reason: typo |

I've been looking at the 67a750 for quite some time now and I was very close to buying until I saw the 72a650 on Amazon for $1899.00.
I know its the bulb version but honestly I don't care about that, the extra 5 inches is so tempting. Would the 67a750 have that much of a difference in picture quality? |
