If you don't mind the glossy panel of the Samsung, I'd go for that especially given the price difference between the two. If you're paying over $3,500 I'd suggest a larger 60" Kuro rather than a 52" TV.

Also, if the thin panel of the 850 is not an importance and you rather save a few bucks, look into the 750/650 series. They are basically the same quality minus the thinner panel.

Also wasnt sure what to get. Didnt like the way the bottom speaker looked on the Sony so I went with the LN46A860 . I connected her the other day, and couldnt be happier, glad I went with the Samsung. The picture is great right out of the box. Still have to decide if Im going to mount her on the wall or get a stand. Im no expert, but most of us couldnt tell the difference between either picture . The Samsung also comes with a 21 month warranty.

I have sold TV's for the last 5 years, and I would easily recommend a Sony over samsung. The samsung has an awful glare, higher return/failure rate (documented by consumer reports), and the set, although bright), has very inaccurate settings right out of the box, they require calibration to be accurate.

i was at best buy today and they had the 52A860 right next to the xbr 8 and the 860 looked better. i dont know im a little confuse now , the costco in arizona has the 52A750 for $1799 that is the best price ive seen it for. i live in miami but my cousin lives in arizona so maybe she can get me that one. Correct me if im wrong
650 is the same as the 750 but the 650 doesnt have the internet video think and the bezel its different??. then the 750 you have to connect your ethernet cable to the tv to watch the internet channel thing and the 850 is thinner and is wireless????

I would go with the 750 because it has a single 120hz vs. the 650 and the XBR6, 7, or 8 which has dual 60hz for the 120hz. So the 750 will have less jitter and no frame col. from having to 60hz.

thanks purple , i took your advice i got it for $1899 from best buy . they matched the costco price for the 750. they were selling it for $2899 but when i showed them how much costco had it , they gave it to me for that price.

So true....I returned 9 samsungs!!!! All different models too. And the best part was me and the bestbuy manager opened up all of them in store and witnessed all the problems.

He thought I was crazy when I returned 2 of them so I asked him to open up the following one with me and sure and behold the next 7 had problems. He was shocked and apologized to me and gave me one heck of a deal on my current Panasonic.

But back to the thread, I've owned countless Samsungs and after purchasing and selling my last Samsung 32inch tv and buying my current Sony XBR6...I will probably never go back to Samsung.

Interesting idea and I wouldn't doubt it. I've had hit and misses with Samsung, but the ones I had misses with they all came from the same shipment to bestbuy so who knows?

While at BB I was looking at the Samsung LN55A950 and asked bout calibration and the salesman said you should what for about a month before getting it calibrated. That it needed a burn in time? True or False? i think he said it needed a 100 hours of burn in time?

Default Still Not Sure About Which TV To Buy

So, what does everyone think about the new XBR7 series with 240hz? I have heard that they are the best of the best, and have all the bells and whistles, but the $3499 price tag is a bit high for a 52". I appreciate anyones feed back.

I'd get a Pioneer Kuro Elite 111FD & still have $400 bucks in my pocket.
