Okay I saw a Panasonic and a Pioneer LCD tv on sale at a Best Buy. The Pioneer was $1,000 and the Panasonic was $1,300. Both 1080p.
Question is, how good are these tv's and are they really made by these companies? Or are they just tv's that the companies paid to have their names put on them? |

I didn't see those in the ad when I just looked at it a couple minutes ago. Those companies make plasma tvs above 42" not LCD's.

This was yesterday (saturday). Maybe they were plasma's. I didnt get the model #'s. One was an out of box item and they were just wanting to get rid of it. I think it was the Pioneer. Dont know what the deal with the other was.
One employee made the comment, "we might as well have sold that to them for free." Just curious if they actually made the tv's or were they Sony's with Pioneer and Panasonic on them instead. |

You're right, but it's hard to turn an ocean liner... Sony is so tightly price-controlled, I'm wondering how long it will take them to loosen up and start dealing. I like Sony, and have two of them, but others may start dealing sooner.

Pioneer does have 32", 37" and 46" LCD's (from their partnership with Sharp) outside NA (though there are some in NA).. It is my understanding that these have only been marketed outside NA.

In MO where you are, you were looking at plasma's. Panasonic's largest LCD in North America is a 37", 42" and up are plasma's. Pioneer only releases plasma in North America and they make, hand's down, the best TV you can possibly buy. So if you want to know that you have the best display on the market, pick up a Pioneer plasma. |
