klipsch reference series for the win. i just bought my first speaker of the set and am already blown away with just a center channel. i bought the RC-52 and am completing it over the next 4 months with the remaining RF-52's and RS-52's and a Klipsch sub. i am blown away by Klipsch though i can't speak for Polk since i have no experience with them. i am just saying that i don't feel the need to with my new Klipsch being perfect.

I agree, as Klipsch is a bit more efficient and would not have you thinking about a new receiver if yours isn't super-powerful. The Polks sound terrific, but the bulldog must be fed with those bad boys.

Now for me this is just a personal pick
Klipsch is what i would choose.Don't hate me but iam not a big polk fan and ive had alot of chances of have them.

Right now i could have my whole system done with them,But for me there's just something about polk and again please don't hate me

I'm a personal fan of Klipsch (Reference in particular), but the 2 have a different type of sound. What's important here is what YOU like.

The efficiency of the RTi's is 89 or 90db depending on which floorstander you're looking at. Where are you getting this information?

Personally, I love Polk's sound, all things being equal, and I don't know that I like Klipsch's due to the horn. I haven't really gotten to listen to their newer speakers that supposedly minimizes the "brightness" that you get with a horn speaker.

Go and listen to them yourself and make up your mind! If you're looking at equal lines (didn't say what you're looking at with Klipsch) as long as you like the sound you can't go wrong. Is there a reason you're only looking at these two brands?

i love my klipsch but why limit it to just these 2 brands?

How about some speakers from AV123 or old school Swan Divas in that price range? There's plenty others out there!

Default Polks RTI A Line

It varies depending on the line of speakers, but with the from the same source and same receiver processing I picked the Polk RTi A line over any of the similar Klipsch line. Might not be the "popular" vote here, but I have had excellent feedback from everyone that has heard them. Even current Klipsch owners!

These two brands are the only ones I saw in the Crutchfield mag. I got.

Their website. They're running about 90db; Klipsch is 10DB higher. Take a look.

Lots of people talk about the horns, and "ear fatigue", but I think that's actually distortion - it's easy to turn them up, they're very clean. Then your head hurts.

Not knocking Polk - my wife didn't like their look, we walked away and got Vienna Acoustics, Sonus Faber, and Definitive. For the look. And paid the price, but we both liked the sound of the Polks and the Klipsch Reference line.

But they don't sound the same...they must be auditioned, it's a personal thing.

I voted for Klipsch. I recently bought a pair of the WF-35 Icon series which is a brand new offering from Klipsch. I have them in a small dedicated listening room. 2 channel analog only. They sound terrific. Detailed, bright, nicely nuanced and a broad soundstage. The music springs from them.

I also have a Polk 7.1 RM setup in the theater room. This is comprised of the RM 50T's as fronts with the RM 301 as the center, RM 30's as surround and the RM 20's as surround back. The Polks are not nearly as sensitive as the Klipsch and the lack the soundstage of the Klipsch. I'm not complaining mind you, the Polks are excellent speakers and I dearly love them. They work very well in the multi-channel theater environment. But for the music, it's the Klipsch. Hands down.

BTW, I augment the Klipsch with a Def Tech Supercube III of which I am equally pleased.
