Default Blu Ray Piracy in Malaysia

Well it has finally happened. First there was a wave of blu ray movies burnt onto plane old dvd 9, marketed as blu rays..now comes the next phase, actual 1080P content burnt onto blu ray recordables ripped directly from legit blu ray discs. Don't think this is available all over kuala lumpur at this point of time, however, I guess it's just a matter of time until the fever catches on.

Now I am not a proponent of piracy by any means (personally have stuck with buying original blu rays even though in Malaysia the retail price of original blu ray disc is just mind boggling), however, it does leave a bad taste in ones mouth when a movie you buy for RM 170 from a legit source is being sold for RM 40 with virtually the same quality from an outlet not so far from the legit source.

Welcome to new age of piracy, next up....100 movies in one disc (dvd 9 quality to boot!!)

Never been to Malaysia so I'm not really concerned by this. Also I thought the protections on Blurays were so far unbroken ? So how could they rip actual 1080p content ? My guess is, this is not actual 1080p content. Just a guess of course.
