Best Friend's Girl (Not Playing, Again!)

Alright, so the Blu-ray Best Friend's Girl isn't playing on my PS3. I have a 80GB Motorstorm bundle. I rented it from Netflix so at first I thought it was just a bad disc as that can happen on occasion.

Well, I sent that disc back and got the replacement disc today and what do you know, it doesn't play! Not only will it not play, but my PS3 doesn't even recognize there is a disc in there other than the fact that there is a blue light on the drive.

I've read in another forum that someone else had this issue, but I didn't see a resolution to it, so I hope that the people here can crack the case!

Oh and I do have the most up to date firmware and I have tried rebooting my PS3 with the disc in it. Also I have cleaned the disc thoroughly! Also I know its not the laser as I have recently replaced it with a fresh one and all other Blu-rays play with no issue,

Well, we are going to watch The Patriot tonight and hopefully there will be a resolution by tomorrow night!

So anyone else have this same issue?

Also I'm aware that other people don't like/recommend this movie, but I'm asking if you are having the same issue and know the resolution to this.

I have a 60 GB, old school and a Metal Gear Solid 80GB, ill try it on those and see(ill update my findings). Just an FYI, the newest update was released Jan 20

Update using a PC

Required items

• PLAYSTATION®3 system
• A wireless controller
• A USB cable
• A PC with Internet access
• Storage media (Memory Stick™, SD Memory Card, CompactFlash®)* or a USB Mass Storage device such as a USB flash drive
  (At least 140 MB of free space required)
  * An appropriate USB adaptor (not included) is required to use storage media with some models.

Update data download procedure

1. Create a folder on the storage media in which to save the update data.
   Using a PC, create a folder named “PS3” on the storage media or USB device. Within the PS3 folder, create a folder named “UPDATE”.
   
2. Download the update data and save it in the "UPDATE" folder created in step 1.
   
   

Notice

Be sure to save the update data as noted below. If the data is not saved in the correct way, the PS3™ system will not recognize the update data. The folder name must be in all uppercase letters.

• Location: Save in the “PS3” folder > “UPDATE” folder
• File name: Save as file name “PS3UPDAT.PUP”.

Update procedure

Notices

• Do not turn off the PS3™ system or remove the storage media or USB device during an update. If an update is cancelled before completion, the system software may become damaged, and the system may require servicing or exchange.
• During an update, the power button on the system front and PS button of the controller are inactive.

1. Insert the storage media or USB device that contains the update data in the PS3™ system.
2. From the home menu, select (Settings) > (System Update), and then press the button.
   
   
3. Select [Update via Storage Media], and then press the button.
   
   
   The system automatically searches for and finds the update data saved on the storage media or USB device.
4. Start the update data.
   
   
   Press the button to start the update data. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
5. Confirm that the update was successful.
   After the update has been completed, go to (Settings) > (System Settings) > [System Information]. If the [System Software] field displays the version number of the update, the update was successful.

Hint

You can delete the update data from the storage media or USB device after the update has been successfully completed.

I know but you may wanna double check it, You are the only one having an issue, plays fine in both machines and they have this version firmware. So its either the disc, the machine, or the firmware. If you say the latter 2 arent the problem, it must be the disc

I thought that too, but its the second disc I've received from Netflix.

I don't know if it's possible, but maybe netflix sent you the same disc twice. Try reporting the problem and wait till the new one ships before sending yours back. That way you can be sure that it's a different disc.

Yeah, I'm not 100% sure if its the same disc, but it looks just like the other one.

Alright, got a 3rd disc from Netflix and it still doesn't play.

Well I guess that I will take everyone's advice that this is a very obvious hint not to watch this movie.
