superhero movie problem?

I just rented superhero movie and it doesnt seem to play after the dimension splash screen comes up prior to the menu. It doesnt work on my sony bdp s350 or 550, but works in blockbusters display unit ps3. The disc looks fine, my firmware on both of my machines are updated. What is going on?

i know blurays are supposed to be less susceptible to scratches, but does it look like there are any scratches on the disc?

no the disc itself looks pristine. i doubt anyone has rented it before me. no fingerprints, no smudges, no scratches.

if you're 100% sure the firmware is updated to the last revision on your players you may just have a bad disc. i did a quick google search and didn't find anything that stood out, so i'm baffled too

id say try taking it back and exchanging it

I would but blockbuster only has one copy. I mean this just makes no sense. I've tried with the Ethernet cord in and out. Tried forcing the menu to pop up but nothing. I went to blockbuster about a half hour ago to check and that's when I saw that the disc works in their ps3. Honestly this is very disheartening. I've spent a ton of money on this format and now I'm worried about the handful of discs I have that I haven't watched yet, let alone all I intend to buy.

maybe your player is doing you a favor in regards to that specific movie

this isn't a common problem with blu-rays (so long as the firmware remains updated, which you said yours was). i have a ps3 and a laptop with a bluray player and ive never experienced one problem with any blurays new or old. i really dont know what to tell you but im sry to hear you can't watch your movie. hopefully someone else will pop in here with another suggestion.
