Cool Lost Planet 2

Link:

Quote:
With news over the weekend that the Lost Planet film would be backed by a huge $150-$200 million budget, Capcom has also announced that a sequel to the game is also in development. Capcom made the announcement via the Weekly Famitsu, a popular Japanese gaming magazine. The sequel will be due out for the PS3 and 360 in 2009, with some exclusive content for the Xbox 360 version.
Hope its better than the first one!

I thought the first one was cool, so I'm definitely looking forward to this. I just hope they do a better job with the PS3 version this time, the port was terrible.

I thought the first one was overrated. I was really hyped for the game and was somewhat let down after beating it (played the 360 version - but I believe it was touted as the better version). Still, I'd give it a 7.5 - 8 (out of 10)

According to Inafune, "We're finally putting out new Dead Rising and Lost Planet games! As a main principle we're thinking about multi-platform, and expanding upon both slightly from the Xbox 360 version."
I'm wondering if this could have been mistranslated (intentionally? you decide!) as extra content for the sequels on 360.

Kotaku don't usually shy away from a jab at the PS3 and it's a little bit early to be talking about platform exclusive extras.

I was just thinking about something like this at school today! Woah!

None the less, I wanna get this just for playing online. I mean the Vital Suits and all. I didn't get much time into the first one though because I also bought Warhawk around the same time. Hopefully I'll get a second chance online (if the lag problems of the first though).

360 version put the PS3 version to shame. Hope Capcom doesn't drop the ball again.

It was one of the rare games worth buying during the first year. That said, I got too frustrated with it to finish when I had it on the 360. Stupid mech robot chick's.

It's actually a good thing Lost Planet didn't do so hot as an exclusive as the upcoing Bionic Commando was close to heading that path.

The more talented staff that developed the original 360 version probably went onto the next full-game projects while the PC, PS3 port and Colonies was passed onto smaller, less experienced groups.

I can't see any other explanation when DMC4 and RE5 are so similar on the console platforms, using the same MT Framework engine.

Indeed, the MT Framework engine is very good on both platforms now, and it will only get better over time on PS3, the gap between Capcom games has been getting smaller with each release, by the time LP2 hits it should have been eliminated entirely.

Killzone 2's spoilt me, whenever I see this blur technique used it makes me wince.

Not sure what to think about the switch from intimate bad story following bad characters to.. story jumping between several groups of snow pirates. What I want to see is evidence of improvement in storytelling.

The controls locking you out during various actions was irritating, influencing your direction during a rope pull, not just afterwards would be nice. I like to move while getting shot so I can prevent it and I definitely don't want to get knocked over and lose control even longer. Movement on foot and in Vital suits felt unnecessarily sluggish and restrictive, jumping was just horrible.

It wasn't satisfying shooting or finally killing snow pirates. A lot of weapons weren't worth picking up. After the novelty of snow environments wore off, the level design wasn't even that interesting.

GAF says MT Framework 2 Engine for this game, which is so far untested, but supposed to give superior results for PS3 games over Xbox 360 games. This could turn out to be interesting...

I liked the first game. The PS3 version could have been better. I'll buy this too.

I didn't like the game at first but it kind of grew on me. I hated the last boss though, it was really frustrating and annoying at the same time.
