Default Sony s350 audio problem

Hi Guys,

I just got my mom a s350 for her birthday. I have it all hooked up and I have hit a snag. I have audio coming out the tv and also out of the surround sound. Giving a slight echo effect. I have an HDMI running out of the 350 into a switch (one hdmi on the tv, two inputs, cable box and the s350). I also have an optical running from the s350 to the reciever. Ive been playing with the settings on the s350 but i cannot seem to figure it out.

my "audio output priority" setting is on "coaxial/optical" so why is it still sending audio via the HDMI to the tv? Any help/suggestions you can give me would be well appreciated

there should be a menu setting in your TV that allows you to turn off the internal speakers for that HDMI connection. Otherwise, you can just turn down the volume on the TV all the way.

All you have to do is turn your sound all the way down from your tv ,sound from my understanding will still come out of both ,just lower your tv all the way down

Yeah I was hoping to come up with a more perminant solution rather than having my mom mute the tv, but I think thats the only option...I cant mute the HDMI because when I flip the switch back over to watch cable it would still be muted, and since she didnt want the surround sound hooked up for normal tv viewing she wouldnt have any sound if muted the hdmi.....

it just kinda bugs me because i have an almost identical setup...i have hdmi running from my ps3 to my tv and and optical out to my reciever, and i dont get double audio..hmmmmm

Do you have multiple devices hooked up to this one HDMI Input? If not, try disabling the audio from the menu setup on your TV. I have a Vizio LCD and when I press menu and go to the audio settings, I can turn off the internal speakers. That way I don't have to worry about audio coming out, even if the volume on the TV is full blast.

You could use component cables to provide the video feed to the TV and unplug the HDMI altogether. If the TV is not 1080P, you won't see much, if any, degradation in the Pq.
