I thought this would be an interesting subject, especially the least favorite portion....
My favorite has to be my eD A2-300. It never stops amazing me with its sheer power. Not only that but the bass is never sloppy, always tight and hard hitting. Close second is my Sony STR-DG920. It is quite the workhorse, it's ease of use and functionality is great as well. My least favorite would have to be my Motorola HDDVR. It is the most unresponsive piece of crap I have ever seen. You hit fast forward, nothing You hit it again, nothing, Again, nothing. All of a sudden you are fast forwarding your butt off and can't stop. I have been tempted, more than once, to launch it out the window. ![]() |

Thank God my Scientific Atlanta box isn't like that, but it used to freeze up and reboot itself almost daily for a probably two months after friggin' TWC updated the software with an auto download.
As for favorite, hopefully it'll be my 5020FD when it gets here. Past that, my setup isn't that spectatular yet. |

So yes I would have to agree with you on that being my least favorite piece of equipment. And my favorite would have to be my Onkyo, I just love seeing it nice and shinny with the blue "pure direct" and volume lights on. |

my favorite would be my center channel speaker....amazing bass from a center!
least favorite would be my dvr (like many posters above). it's constantly unresponsive or requiring me to get off my lazy butt and open the flap to push the red reset button to restart it. then it gets to download all the info again for like 10 minutes while I miss the end of whatever show i was watching...happened to me once during a ufc ppv main event bout with Randy couture while I had a house full of people....GRRRRRRRRRR! ![]() |

Since I use my integrated amp in cinema mode to power my L/R for HT, I'd have to say my VAC Phi Beta 110i tube amp, even though technically it's not "HT". The indisputable title would probably go to my center speaker, the B&W HTM1D, which never ceases to amaze me and can't be considered anything but an HT component.
My least favorite is the Integra 9.8. It gets the job done and sounds better than I thought it would, but the relays take too long to lock onto codecs when switching. It also looks like the typical mass marketed plastic crap that I really don't want in my rack. But I don't hate it by any stretch, and it is a good A/V preamp. I'm hoping more choices come along and I can sell it when I find something better. |

This is my favorite:
http://www.amazon.com/JBL-Venue-Stadium-8-Inch-Speaker/dp/B000FD3W1G Four of these enormous beasts make up the core of my sound system. Having so many woofers in the left & right and surround channels makes the powered sub blend in perfectly, so it's just another speaker and not the "powerhouse" of the setup, and it allows a sense of "movement" of sound source, so when I'm watching a movie I can feel the spaceships and trucks and other such loud stuff as they move from left to right, and front to rear. My least favorite HT item is either of the two piece-of-dawgpoop Bose 6" two-way speakers that I have for my two rear channels. They are ancient and the woofers are lame. They just don't stack up to the rest of my toys. I'd love to replace them, but with this economy my budget is gone and I've gone back to school, pushing that purchase wayyyyy down the priority list... so glad I bought so much cool HT stuff right before the economy crashed. It is so hard to pick just one piece that is my favorite...
It's probably a tie between my PS3 and my HSU STF-2 sub. Both have absolutely changed the way that I watch movies. The PS3 is pretty obvious because of the addition of Blu-ray. After watching movies in high-def it's really hard to go back! The STF-2 has also changed the way I watch movies. I still get all excited whenever a scene with deep bass comes on. Picking my least favorite is easy... the Samsung DVDR-135 dvd recorder. Absolute POS from day 1! Opened up the box and found out that the HDMI module was dead on arrival. Took it back for a replacement, and this one seemed to work fine. However, it has always had this funny little quirk with the clock. It is supposed to automatically detect the local time from a cable signal, but will only do so if you give it a direct feed from the wall. Even then, it fails to recognize daylight savings time, which means that for half the year the clock is correct, and the other half it's an hour off! Setting the clock manually works just fine, except for the fact that it won't let you set the clock manually if it detects a cable signal from any input! So the only way to have an accurate clock (and therefore be able to accurately record things) is to not have it hooked up to cable... this of course completely defeats the purpose of having a DVD RECORDER!!!! ![]() Samsung has been ZERO help, and has even gone as far as to ask me why I am so worked up over the clock! ![]() |

I'd say my favorite piece has to be my harmony one remote, that thing is awesome. i hate looking for the remote, the docking station has saved my life. i love the rest of my setup too, the tv, onkyo, and my speakers are great, but i'm a noob to it all and will surely be upgrading sometime.
my least favorite is my dvr like many have said. It takes about 15 minutes to reboot and overheats constantly. what a piece. |
