Info. needed, please
![]() I am thinking of ordering the Canadian release of Amadeus, as the price is a good few pounds cheaper than the American edition. I know that some Canadian sourced Blu's have dual language packaging, but does anyone know if Canadian Warner coffee-book style packaging is also dual language? Don't really fancy having French/English text on each page and dual language covers can be a tad annoying - really don't understand why they don't print the cover in English on one side and in French on the reverse, so you have a choice! ![]() Thanks, Matt Last edited by MattDean; 01-31-2009 at 11:55 AM. |

Canadian Blu-ray releases are sometimes in English only and other times come in Bilingual packaging. I've never really understood why this is so, as Canada is officially designated as a Bilingual (English-French) country. As such, packaging must display each language in equal prominance. Most of my Blu's that I've ordered from amazon.ca or elsewhere in Canada have come in English only.
Exceptions have been most of the Disney and Warner titles, so I'd imagine that Amadeus would have bilingual packaging. I have yet to see the official cover however and a search didn't turn up anything either. At this point, any order you place will be a crapshoot. So, if you want an English-only cover, I'd suggest ordering from outside of Canada. John |

I think the coffebook covers are all english. They get them right from the States, I don't think they are any different. This is probably due to the high cost of reproducing the cover to put a couple words in French on there.

I have the blu-ray book canadian editions of 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest', 'Natural Born Killers' and 'Poltergiest'. Both have english only on the covers and english only text on the pages in the book. The only bilingual text is on the removable card on the back cover of the blu-ray. The card has the disc specs, special features, and a bilingual film synopsis but, like I said it is easily removed. I'm sure Amadeus is identical. I plan on getting it myself.

Warner's is a bit weird when it come to the billingual packaging, most of the time, there's English and French when there are both audio tracks. But with some catalog stuff, which included Blade Runner, and I'm about 95% certain includes the digibook cases that you're talking about, seem to be English only.

There will definately be no french on the digibook. It is to be applied to all covers that have a french audio track on the disc. However, with most specialty cases/covers (like Universal's Legacy DVD series, many digipaks), french will only be on the advertising/stickers/cellophane.
John72953, New Brunswick is surprisingly the only Bilingual province in Canada. So adding french to all of these covers really isn't necessary if you ask me. |

BUT I just hate bilingual covers. ![]() In my opinion they should just do reversible artworks. Last edited by GabrielB; 02-02-2009 at 04:47 PM. |

I preferred the days when the cover art was reversible, having english on one side & french on the other. Most Alliance releases have both languages on both sides just in different font sizes. |
