Default Passchendaele

Due for release tomorrow is Passchendaele , a Canadian movie depicting the Battle of Passchendaele in WW1 , directed by , and starring Paul Gross. If you enjoy War movies you will want this one. It has a rousing story based on the real Battle won by the Canadian Corps in late Oct./early Nov. 1917. Having seen this in the theater I can tell you to be prepared for your sub woofer to go berserk

What did you think of the movie itself? I haven't really read any reviews of it but it certainly seems interesting.

I saw in the theater, and it is a good movie. Depending on your tastes, it might be a rental, but the movie is well written and acted.

(As an aside, I'm American living in Canada.)

Just so you're not surprised tomorrow... the movie deals with "The Great War"... ie. WW1.

This WW1 not WW2 , but to compare it to any war movie , the production values are first rate. The battlefield looks exactly like it did in archival photos... "hell in mud"

I've read reviews that said there was a fairly large love story. Is it like to the point of Pearl Harbor, or is there more of the actual war in this one? Ever since Iron Maiden released the song "Paschendale", I've been interested in the battle.

The love story isn't to the "point of Pearl Harbor" but yes there is a love story entwined in the movie. As for the battle scenes they are wall shaking awesome true to the real battle conditions of intense rain and mud.

Yeah I import it in a month or two. I'm nearly flat broke right now so once I'm back on my feet with some spending money (about two paychecks away) I'll pick up Bourne, Time To Kill, Boondock Saints, and Pelican Brief.

I've always been a Paul Gross fan. I'm American but I downloaded his miniseries H20 and The Trojan Horse and both were good. Plus I grabbed the complete Due South off Amazon this past Black Friday for only 15 bucks!

Oh WOW! I didn't know this was coming out today. I'm gonna run out and snag this ASAP! This was a very moving film. Paul Gross is a very talented director.

Cool

Damn near perfect PQ and SQ. Slow paced film, but well done. You don't see the battle until well into an hour of the film, then its over too quickly. Definitely worth a look.

It's only 13.99 CAD right now on CHCanada.com so I was tempted to blind buy it. only 50% rating on rotten tomatoes though, which is kinda turning me off. Any further reviews from other members here would be very helpful
