I'm starting to get frustrated. I have a Samsung 850 tv and Sony 550 bd player. The player is connected via HDMI to the tv and via digital optical to the receiver. I have updated to the latest firmware update and have swapped out both HDMI cable AND even BD players (between a 350 and 550). Every time I go to the BD menu the tv speakers give off static (even when the tv volume is turned down to 0. When I start a blu-ray the static disappears and the sound comes out of the receiver. The blu-ray player is set up to send sound through the optical cable and not the HDMI cable (though even if it was sent to the HDMI cable there shouldn't be static).
Also, when I put in the blu-ray (like Planet Earth) the blu-ray player menu reads "DVD". On the play station 3 it displayed the difference between blu-ray and dvd on the menu, doesn't it do that on the 550? The tv is set to 1080p resolution, but the picture isn't even as good when hooked up to a smaller 1080i tv - it looks like a dvd. |
