Default Plot Potluck

A Woody Allen Slasher Film? A Mel Brooks Drama? Some films don't exist. What plot haven't you seen? What would you like to see? Name it. A Kevin Smith Musical? Spielberg Horror Film?

Default Example: Grade School Odyssey

I have never seen a film: about a child just going to school. Day in, day out, he/she goes home. To a normal family, has dinner, gets up in the morning. And repeats the process, day after day. The film chronicles a normal school year. ..With the occasional trials and tribulations. But nothing dramatized to excess.

This could be an Indie (out of the box) contender that could sell huge to certain audiences. If crafted honestly.

A macro-view of elementary school. Without a reality T.V. feel.

How do friendships start? How are lessons learned? How are the building blocks of certain lives made? Brick by brick, time after time: that is something I've never seen.

How about you? Thoughts?

Default If Kevin Smith Did WWII?

If Kevin Smith did a WWII war film: what would that be? The European locations, the vehicles, all those moving camera shots. Could he handle it? Could Jason Lee be a Nazi? Jason Mewes as a Corporal? Would it be serious or a send-up? Black and white or color? I haven't seen this yet.

Default A Kevin Smith Musical.

A Kevin Smith musical. Jason Mewes in a dress, doing a Rockette rountine. Ben Affleck tap dancing, could Randall can sing...? A ballad to George Lucas? Would that work? Even as comedy? A shoe-in for the Razzies?

Is he crazy enough to do it?

Mackenzie Foy sounds perfect for it.

It's actually a great idea. The rest of them seem random. Do you like Kevin Smith a lot?

Default Cross Country.

A film about a cross country trip. Not Little Miss Sunshine (2006), fairly normal types. They drive and they drive. Sounds kinda boring right? They talk about their hopes and dreams. Reminisce and think back, a family just operating as a family. No fireworks, no Reality crap, just simple observation.. And real human lives unfolding, as we watch. People talking, landscape going, life moving forward.

With the right director (Sidney Lumet?), this could be something? The type of stuff Altman made in the 70’s.

Have Al Pacino play normal. Have Michael Cera plays his son. Toni Collette (coincidental) as the mom. Dakota Fanning as the daughter. Macualay Culkin, Cera’s brother.

With the right patience and pacing. This could be something. If done right. Interesting and quiet.

The father talks about patience, as he drives. The brothers disagree and fall into brotherly traps. The frailty of placement, the territory of family, these things could be framed with quiet force. The things that come up on a long drive; the conversations you always remember. That would be the basis for this film.

As for Fanning, a good way for her to spread her adult wings. And Collette is a good foil.

I'd probably watch anything with Cera, Dakota, and Pacino. The movie could sounds like RV without the lameness.

That's what I thought. Great talent, lots of possibilities. If it was given a chance.

You ever consider writing scripts? It seems you have a lot of interest in it.

Not to mention some workable ideas.

I have written half a script. Actually, it's quite good.(And that’s not ego) I was rather fearful to finish it.
I lacked self-confidence. I'm just: not sure which idea to do. Or the process of doing it.

Sometimes I overthink things. As many of my critics would say. But yes I have. I think about it everyday. My body and my mind keep pushing me there. Every single day. But at times, I'm afraid to jump.

What do you think?

I wouldn’t know what to with them. When I was done anyway. I just don’t want to make the jump. Then do it for nothing… But the jump is necessary I think. So I will do it. I hope.

How about a Kevin Smith WWII musical/comedy? They could call it Hitler's Birthday!! He could get someone to play a campy gay Hitler who is secretly seeing a young Jewish man.

My weight loss, and my relationship with my best friend. It was how our relationship allowed me to walk 2 1/2 hours a day every day And lose 200 pounds in six months. It had a unique angle to it. It would only take place: as my surrogate was outside walking. Or talking on a cell phone. All conversations take place on the phone. Unless, I do flashbacks. …I don’t know.

I stopped because I hadn't shown it to anyone. Out of fear, I wanted to finish it first. But.. strangely, I needed some encouragement: I think, to finish it. I guess I'm weak. After talking to you, I feel like I could. It's hard to say.

I know where it is. I feel like. I won’t be complete, until I do. I think about it everyday.

That sounds like a story worth telling. Not sure about how it should be done, the phone thing and such...

I'd try to show it to a professional and see what they think.
