Question was this a good deal ?

hey guys today I check out my local circuit city store and I found an open box LG BD-300 it had everything except the remote.

it had a %25 off plus %5 off because the box was open and the missing remote. I end up paying $259 + tax = $275.59

I just plug it in and wow!! is extremely fast starting up and loading the movies compare to my old Sony BDP-S300 and is loaded with features such as BD-live and Netflix

Was this a good deal? I have a logitech remote so I was not even going to use the original anyways.

Ive seen the BD300 in actions and, granted this could be isolated, when outputting 1080p or 1080/24p it has a tendency to display flecks that look like film pops on the screen. And I dont mean on just the actual picture of the movie, I mean on the black bars as well. Maybe you could eBay it and get more money out of it?

Not a bad price, but not a steeply discounted one either. If one compared the "liquidation" prices on the Circuit City stickers, often they were about the same as the going market rate, except that there was no return protection offered by CC whatever. I saw some CC stores with inventory on shelves that had no price stickers or seemed to be covered with boxes to discourage inquiry. Why weren't those BD players for sale? Clerks shrugged. A day later, all would be gone. Who or what eventually got the goods? Bankruptcy tends to prompt some dubious behavior.

I noticed the same thing at my local CC. I think perhaps employees hide the good stuff to buy at highly discounted rates, or perhaps back door deals. The customer service was always crappy at CC anyway.

I bought the LG BD300 from Best Buy on sale for $299 a few weeks ago. I love the player. I really didn't want to buy LG, but the Samsung 2500 was all sold out and I didn't feel like waiting. I have been really impressed with the LG BD300, it is really fast loading and the PQ is great. Netflix works great also. This is my first BLU player but so far it hasn't let me down.

Personally its a fair price, but I woulda waited just a few and saved a bit more for a sony or samsung unit. I don't think there's anything wrong with an open box special but I would busted them down a bit more if possible. Remote... eh who cares like ya said, i have a logitech as well and i bought a bdp-s300 from circuity begone city for 140$ no remote but original box and everything else so I say its a 75 / 25 buy dont buy for me.
