Hey guys,
Im getting a Vizio VP505XVT 50" Plasma in the next couple of days. I was wondering if anybody could help me out with what kind of settings I should leave it on during the 100~150 hour break-in period. What I mean is brightness, contrast, etc. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, CJS234 |

put it on "movie" setting, and avoid the "dynamic" setting.
i heard one guy had a great idea: he played a movie on repeat every night when he went to bed (8 hours = movie repeated 4 times). so within 12 days, he reached the 100 hour break-in. |

Many say that with today's technology, you do not need to break-in plasma's any longer. If you look in the owners manual of most TV's, they do still mention break-in. So, whether you need it or not is still questionable. I used the images from www.webapalooza.com on my plasma for the first 150-200 hours. Keep in mind, I did not run the TV continuously. I watched normal programming and did not stretch anything. When I was away from the TV, but still in the house, i.e., preparing lunch or dinner, I would turn on the slide show with the above mentioned images. I would also let the images play for 90 minutes when I went to bed using the TV's built-in timer.
That's my story and I'm happy with what I did. Occasionally, I will switch ont he slide show when I go to bed, but not as often as when I first got the set. BTW, only one occasion with IR and that was when I turned off my set,I could still see the blu-ray splash screen from The Bank Job. This was quickly fixed y turning the TV on and then off. Good luck and congrats on the new purchase. |

You can read the AVSforum guys' view on breaking in Plasma telivisions. Personally, I broke mine in about 60-70 hours and I've been fine so far. I usually keep the settings around 40 all around when I am not "really" watching it (meaning, when I'm surfing blu-ray.com or anything else...)
Just be smart, don't keep static images on for too long and use your common sense! |
