Default Basic questions about Comcast, HDMI, and components

I just got a nice Pioneer Kuro 50" TV, and I would like to start enjoying some HDTV!

I have Comcast cable in Washington state, and they gave me a box with component cables to my TV. The picture looks good right now. They said they could alternatively provide me a cable box with HDMI output, but I would need to supply the cables. Would this HDMI cable box make a significant difference?

If so, would these HDMI cables be ok?

Do I need separate audio cables from the Comcast box to my TV, or does the HDMI also carry 5.1 audio?

Thank you for any help.

Welcome to the forum...

Cables are fine... I am sure the HDMI box does 1080i, does your existing one ?
yes audio and video both go over a single HDMI
