Default Surround speaker placement

Hi. Ive got positions laid out for my front 3 speakers, but the surrounds are tricky. initially,i wanted to put them on side walls, but the wireman came in today, and said that it was impossible to even access the area through the attic. He suggested that we just mount them on the ceiling, above our listening area. Is that ok? ive heard pretty much everywhere that surrounds should be more than 2 feet above ear level, and putting them on the ceiling will amount to more than 6 feet above ear level.

Im using the polk RM10 system, so theyre all satellites.

Thanks.

I've seen people put them on the ceiling, can you angle them down?

I would advise against it unless you are using in ceiling speakers. But if it is you last option then you might have to go that route. But in my experience there is always a way to cable in the walls where you need it, it just might involve putting a larger hole, that you will have to patch up later.

is there a specific reason why you would advise against it? how will the sound be compared to the speakers on thew wall?

and i can angle them down.
