Default Is this set pretty darn good??

Sharp Aquos 46" LCD LC46D85U

1080p 1920x1080
120Hz refresh rate with 4 ms response time
HDMI inputs - 5 (I really don't need that many, 2 or 3 would do)
S-Video input - 1
Component Inputs - 2
Composite Inputs - 2
PC Inputs - 1
High brightness (450 cd/m²)
176° horizontal and vertical viewing angles
Spectral contrast engine
Built-in HDTV tuner

for 1599,99$

Anybody have issues with Sharp? Experience or own this model??

Me Wants It.

Does anybody know a set BETTER for 1599,99 or less?? Also, I would prefer to buy it at a brick & mortar store... especially Best Buy, because I can get 2 years NO interest, plus reward zone points...

Personally i'm not a fan of sharp, i would think you can get a better set for the same price at BB, have you looked at plasma. If so look at the Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ800U or for a little less the Samsung pn50a650, also if your set on LCD Samsung get much better reviews than most of the sharp sets, and in my experience look better and cost less.

here is a review of the set your looking at

I have a Sharp with no complaints. Do not have 120hz but paid less than that in August for the 52 inch from Buydig.com with no tax or shipping.

Why do people always post about plasmas in the LCD PART OF THE FORUM. If he wanted a plasma he'd go inquire about it in the PLASMA part of the forum.

If i was you and i had a 1600 dollar budget (or maybe more) i'd go with the 52 inch sammy ln52a650. It beats that tv hands down.

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN52A6...4106415&sr=8-1

I returned a plasma for the 46 inch version of that tv, i didn't like the plasma at all.

+1. Thank You

As for LCD's, Sony or Samsung would be your best bet. I own both Sony and Sharp, and Sony just kills the Sharp in overall PQ.

I've had a sharp 46" since last November and it's been an excellent TV.
It doesn't have the 120hz stuff and only 4 hdmi ports but the picture is perfect and the black levels are more than satisfying.
The speakers leave more to be desired, but they get the job done.

Despite what people say on these forums you're gonna be satisfied with any of the notable brands like Sony, Samsung, Sharp, Panasonic etc.. It's up to the look of the TV, the features and the price.

So if you want it, get it. Sharp makes excellent TVs.

I think the reason why people in the form also talk about plasma is, alot of time a sales guy or friend will convince them to go one way or another and they don't give the other option a chance, not that one is better than the other it really is a mater of personal preference. I do agree thou Samsung is a much better plasma in my opinion than the one your looking at.

because i bet he hasnt even considered a plasma, and he can get the same screen size and better blacks for his money.

is it against the law to make recommendations on plasmas?
theres a $600 difference between the tv i recommended and the one he posted on. $600 can go a long way.

I have four LCDs in my house, so I am not plasma bias, i was making a recommendation im sorry im on your "lcd turf"

he even asked this

so get off me for trying to help him out. i guess paradigm or kplisch owners shouldnt post in polk threads then.

and plus u didnt even give a reason for why u returned the sammy plasma for the lcd, u just said u didnt like it at all.

thanks for the help everyone!

I bought the Panasonic 50" TH-50PZ80U PLASMA today... woo hoo! On sale for 1799$, plus i upgraded to an HD Tivo! saweet! BTW, I asked them to give me a 6' HDMI cable for 10$, and they did!

this model is looking hot!

I'm putting my 42" sony setup in my office, and the Panny (oh gosh, am i gonna start calling it that!?!) goes in the living room with a new Sony 550 blu player! Woot!

__

Question: Does anybody think it's a big deal that this isn't a 120hz set???

Congrats on the Panny! They do look great. As far as the 120hz stuff, don't second guess yourself, it's a matter of "can you really tell the differents". You made a good choice. Enjoy!

Congrats on your new TV. As to your question about the 120Hz....plasmas do not need this feature, nor is it offered on them, because they are virtually blur free already. 120Hz is a capability now offered in LCDs to give them more of the motion quality of a plasma. Hope this helps!
