Default Back to the Future - Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly Footage?

Anyone ever seen this? I've searched all over the internet and haven't been able to find them. I know there was talk of the scenes being released on the DVDs but the studio decided they didn't want to "embarrass" Stoltz (hence why none of it is probably online anywhere) and the footage has long since been forgotten. Even though MJ Fox was perfect casting, it would still be interesting to see Stoltz' performance..

Here's a Wiki excerpt if you don't know what I'm referring to:

Quote:
[Eric Stoltz was initially cast as Marty McFly since first choice Michael J Fox had scheduling conflicts]. Four weeks into filming, Zemeckis decided Stoltz was miscast. Although he and Spielberg realized reshooting the film would add $3 million to the $14 million budget, they decided to recast. Spielberg explained Zemeckis felt Stoltz was too humorless and gave a "terrifically dramatic performance". Gale further explained they felt Stoltz was simply acting out the role, whereas Fox himself had a personality like Marty McFly. He felt Stoltz was uncomfortable riding a skateboard, whereas Fox was not. Stoltz confessed to director Peter Bogdanovich during a phone call, two weeks into the shoot, that he was unsure of Zemeckis and Gale's direction, and concurred that he was wrong for the role.

the footage has never been leaked, but tons of pictures of the shoot have....He protrayed Marty as a little to intense for Zemekis's taste so they re-casted.....accroding to BTTF.com, Bob Gale and Robert Z. said they didnt want to put it out on the dvd or upcoming Blu-ray release (release not yet announced but it has been remastered in HD already) because they felt like it would embarasse MR. Stolz and they didnt want to do that....but they did say that maybe some years down the line, they will release it....so be patient.....as being a big BTTF fan, im interested in seeing another take on the character....

I know this. And have read a lot about it.

I would say the Stoltz footage will never be released. It is too embarrassing for Eric and Zemeckis. I have a feeling. It will stay a legend. Without the actual document, at hand.

Perhaps, for Back to the Future's (1985) Blu-Ray Box-Set (containing all three films) will have it.

But probably not.

Who knows? Good thread Sussudio. If you learn anymore, send me the info. I've always been interested in this, as well.

Thanks.

Shyamalan once described it, as the difference between a talented technical actor (Stoltz) and a born natural (Fox).

He discussed deciding, do I pull a Fox or a Stoltz for a role?

So the answer appears, that sometimes a natural without experience (if they click with a role) is better than a professional seasoned performer.

At least, ..that's what it is. When you think of Back to the Future (1985)? Isn't it?

I'm not sure I would even want to see it.

MJ Fox is Marty to me, so anything else would just seem weird. If I want to see somebody else as Marty, I'm sure there are re-enactments on YouTube.

2:23 in is great.
