Default Grill It with Bobby Flay - Vote for my BIL

My Brother in Law is a chef at a restaurant in RI and is trying to make it onto a taping of "Grill It" with Bobby Flay - he did a head shot and spoke with them and was asked to put his video online

Give it a look (Smoked Gouda / Pancetta Black Angus Burger) and give it a 5 Star rating if you don't mind!

Thanks!!

Just to give you a little background on my BIL:

My BIL wasn't a good student growing up, he did things to get by and was more of the jock type (hockey/baseball). When he had the opportunity to go to Culinary school, he took advantage of the opportunity and worked hard to excel at it. After busting his butt through the years, he finally made dean's list before graduating with 2 degrees.

As a graduation gift, my in-laws decided to take him on a cruise before he entered the work place full-time (and my wife and I tagged along). On this cruise, we went to the Southern Caribbean hitting Aruba and Curacao along with St. Martin, St. Thomas and San Juan, PR. Our mission was to get cheap gouda ($12 for a 4x12in wheel), fresh Amstels (not Amstel Light) or Grolsch and enjoy the opportunity that this vacation presented. Little did we know at the time that this would be the last vacation we would all take as a complete family...

2.5 months later, my FIL celebrated his 59th b-day...shortly after, he suffered a heart-attack that 10 days later would take his life. Being a young adult just getting started in the real world, my BIL was left with this void that he still has a difficult time dealing with. He puts himself in his work and he busts his ass working 60+ hours a week to make a name for himself.

One thing he truly took pride in was when he would cook something for the family and everyone would be silent because they were enjoying the food so much - he particularly enjoyed when my FIL would take a bite, close his eyes, move his head and go "Uuuuuumm-mmmmmmmm". Making simply food taste and seem elegant was something that he knew his father would appreciate, especially since his father came from simple means as a poor Tejano boy growing up in a non-tolerant era in Texas.

I think it would be a fitting tribute for my BIL to be able to make it to TV, even for a moment to be able dedicate what he has done in his father's memory.

Thank you for sharing your story about your brother in-law. He sounds like the type that is proud of and obsessed with his work (in a good way). I wish him the best of luck in getting on the show. I voted five stars. I probably would have anyway since I LOVE gouda.

Voted. That sounds like an amazing burger. Gouda is a great cheese.
