Exclamation At A CrossRoads - What To Do?

Here is my problem -

I love watching movies. I am a movie wh0r3! My problem is, I can't buy any new HD movies because well - there are two formats. Unsure of who will "win" makes it even harder. Then there is all this talk about how both may be around for the forseeable future until a newer singular technology comes out like DVD.

My mind says buy Blu Ray. Nothing tells me to buy HD-DVD anymore. Never have. I don't even own a Blu Ray movie however I want to start buying them.

The next problem - I don't have a Blu Ray player. Does that make me an idiot for starting to buy now?

What would you do? What happens if it comes out (hypothetical) that Blu Ray fails and HD-DVD is the winner? What does one do with all those BD?

Its really fustrating. Then to throw on top of all this - not knowing if your favorite show is coming to BD or if they are going to re-release an entire series to BD. This whole thing is hampering me from purchasing movies like I used to.

I used to purchase at least 3-4 a week. Now I am lucky to buy 1 or 2 a month.

Ugh. Very lost here.
