MOst definitivelly not. UHDV is so far off it's not even funny. It's specs are too mind boggling to even think about .HDTV has about 2 mp while UHDV is about 32 mp which is huge. See more about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UHDV

current technology doens't support 32 MP...

and there is not enough bandwith...

you can't everywhere enjoy HDTV yet because of low bandwith,
how about introducing UHDTV? :?

Anyway, it will be for quite a while till UHDTV to become possible.

UHDV will be for public broadcasting at first. It'll be at least 15-20 years before we see it in our homes. Perhaps 3d tv will have replaced standard 2d tv displays by then anyway!? who knows? :?:

Yeah, holographic TVs that could play 3D instead of 2D, but 20 years is so quick for the market, think about 50 years minimum :|

I agree. Just as SDTVs have been in homes for decades so will HDTVs.

But what about those rich types with £100,000 home cinemas and 8-18 foot movie screens. I'm sure in 15-20 years they'll be ready for UH Def movies. It's on these larger screens where you'll really see the benefit.

Yeah, THEY can buy that kind of technology. But the rest of the market no. So it will be a few part of the whole market... :|

Default The Ultimate?

33Mp UHDV could form the basis of a digital IMAX system, perhaps with a half resolution 8Mp variant used in the shorter-term to allow cinema to compete more effectively against high definition (with 8Mp being to 33Mp what 720p is to 1080p).

.. Of course, there are a number of reasons why UHDV or UHDV/2 is likely to reach the home much more quickly than the transition from SDTV to HDTV has taken - but probably not for this Christmas ... :?

I still say a 1440p resolution is doable and supportable within 5 years time.

I can't find my other thread answer, but I explain how you could split the broadcast signal into two 720p images. Older ATSC tuner just sees the first one and play that back. Newer ATSC tuners also see the second 720p signal and combine the two to make 1440p.

Naturally, you probably need a 60" TV to notice the difference. It could be more easily supported by blu-ray.

I really don't understand why you bumped this two year old thread with this.

It's hard to understand what you're asking, but the best I can give you is: The display would be the bottleneck regardless of source or external videoprocessor you're trying to feed it.

Anyways, this is still as much vaporware and myth as it was two years ago.

The government may have a tough time getting people to go all digital next year. They aren't about to adopt a new standard.

Heck, how far away are we still from even seeing 1080p broadcasts?

May never happen because of the way the FCC alloted bandwidth for digital transmission, plus the fact all current ATSC tuners would not be able to recognize the signal.

It's the same way some people went from 480i to 480p, done internally by the TV set. At least BD gives us 1080P.
