Default Blu-Ray Trilogies

Hey i'm going to buy a couple trilogies on Blu-Ray today thought i would share some prices. Seem to be pretty good.

This is on amazon.com right now i'm looking at them.

Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy is 48.99

Spiderman Trilogy is 56.49

Bourne Trilogy is 64.99

Matrix Trilogy is 74.99

I might wait on matrix seems to be a little high still.

Out of the others which two trilogies would you get first.

Hope this helps anyone that was on the look out for these also.

not because they're the cheapest but--

PIRATES and SPIDER MAN trilogies are reference quality blu-rays and fun
movies-- I'd go with those 2--

BOURNE to me at least are overrated films
MATRIX is still too much and apparantly there is some flaw with the 3rd
movie of the series-- perhaps somebody else could add their 2 cents
about this because I don't remember what the problem was...

I just got The Bourne Trilogy from Amazon yesterday and watched The Bourne Identity. I've seen all three movies but not for a couple of years. I expected more action in the first film, but forgot much they took their time unveiling the mystery behind Bourne's amnesia. Still great action sequences in it, but I think this first one might be my fave of them (until I get through the next two at least ).

I bought the Pirates of the Caribeean Three-Pack the week it came out last year. Loved them when I saw them in theatres, but as BDs I wish the films weren't each two and a half hours long. I've only gotten through the first film and half of the second so far since I bought them.

But I don't own any of the other ones on your list (only a fan of the first Matrix film and the first two Spidey flicks), so I guess these would be the ones I'd recommend. Tho' someday I may chunk down some cash for the Spidey Trilogy anyway to get the first two.

Depends on what YOU like.

Matrix is overpriced. I got a deal when it was released (forget the details, but I think I used a $20 off $50 purchase coupon from PayPal on the last day the coupon was valid...would NOT buy at the current price). Great Sci-Fi set, and having watched all 3 back to back, I really don't get the hate for the last 2 movies. The first movie was the best, but they were all a lot of fun. Animatrix did nothing for me...

POTC-I love these films. Fun, great PQ/AQ, and I just like the whole Pirate theme.

Spiderman-just me, but I never got into the whole "SuperHero" movie thing. The story is OK, but predictable. The PQ/AQ is reference quality. I picked the set up for $35 or so a year ago when I first got a BD player. Great for showing off to friends. I won't watch them again...

Bourne-to me, these are over-rated films. They are OK, and I would watch again, but nothing that stands out to me. Also, the "Wow" factor is likely a little less since this is a espionage/drama, where the other 3 or special-effects heavy.

All are personal opinions. As I said, pick what YOU would like to watch. I own all but Bourne myself.

BTW, I am looking forward to the following triligies:
-LOTR-EXTENDED EDITION
-Star Wars-Original Trilogy (Hopefully, they will offer the original versions of the films along with Lucas's newest "Improvements"
-Star Wars-Prequel Trilogy (hate the movies, but I am a SW fan-and the Special Effects should make for demo jaw dropping visuals)
-Indiana Jones-3 of my fav childhood movies-seeing that boulder rolling at you should be amazing in HD

Just my opinion here, but I have a problem with a lot of trilogies because after you get past the 1st movie, the rest usually aren't as good, as in POTC, Spiderman, the Matrix. Of all you listed I would buy Bourne first. Also if you're not determined to buy brand new, you can often get the used sets at Moviestop for a few $$$ less.

Take into account that The Matrix collection actually includes 4 films in it and the price isn't that far-fetched. The Animatrix makes the collection less than $20 per film.

I'll comment on the ones I have:

- Spider-Man trilogy : fun movies that combine action, romance, adventure, super-hero antics ... basically movies anyone can enjoy and PQ and AQ are reference quality. Definitely a must-have

- Pirates trilogy : Again, PQ and AQ are very good. Personally, I love the movies but in general they seem to get lower scores than the Spidey movies. If you like adventure/humor/action movies, then these are definitely worth getting

- Matrix trilogy: Never seen the movies with such awesome PQ and AQ! A must own for any sci-fi fan. Also take note that the Animatrix is included as well as an extra DVD, so the price is justifiable.

I have the Japanese set and posted about it before. Here are the pics:

Quick caps with the webcam so quality isn't good but you get the idea:

And the covers of the individual movies in the box. This is what's in the box:

And this is the 3rd movie sold seperately, not included in the box of course (I got it for free with my PS3) :

As far as I know, this box is limited to Japan only.

If you want to buy it, they used to have it at Amazon JP but it's sold out now. Still, you can regularly find it on Yahoo Auction for about 9,800 Yen (regular retail was about 12,000 Yen). I bought mine for 10,000 Yen even.

Edit: correction, Amazon JP restocked so you can order if you want

I think if you buy the trilogy from somewhere other than Target you will get the 3 movies in thier own case in a box. The trilogy i got at Target was all 3 in on plastic case, along the lines of the Blade Runner blu.

yes, the three movies are in individual cases
they are just held in a thin cardboard box (the default picture for the review of the trilogy boxset)

i personally dont like the cardboard boxes or movies in one cas, i like individual cases, only one i have with 3 movies in a single case is the Back to the Future dvds

Best bang for you buck is bourne by a mile. You can get all 3 pirates for super cheap in used like new condition, the matrix imo is just way overpriced, spidey is just "eh" to me, and bourne is right on target for what i would consider a good price.

Go with bourne.
