Default I just cancelled my order for both pirate movies at Amazon

I have had both of the pirate moves on pre-order at Amazon for a few months now. I just went in to check my pre-order statuses, and there was a note that said that I should expect them to ship between June 1 and June 6...

What the hell is up with THAT?

Seeing as Amazon really doesn't give a damn about getting the movies shipped to me at anytime close to the release date, I really don't give a damn about letting them have my business.

Hmm, mine are still coming on the 24th w/ no stated issues. I'll keep checking though. Thanks for the heads-up.

Mine are coming about a week later also, but I think it is because I used the free shipping method which doesn't ship as fast. I already have the DVD's so I will be patient since they are still a good deal on Amazon.

The movie is a popular one I suppose.
Sold out on release date... Seems nice! Reminds me of the PS3.

Fair point, I didn't think about that... I'm an Amazon Prime member and get the 2-day shipping "free" (yes, I know I have already paid dearly in the membership price). I guess they are taking care of us.

Yea, mine are still slated for the 24th. I got a free 1-month trial offer for Prime when I went to order these movies, Apoc, FOOF, and LFIJ, so I cancelled the order and re-ordered w/ the free 2-day shipping. That "Super-Saver shipping" will usually put you near the back of the line.

Yep. Use the Amazon Prime trial if you want them quick. Prime has been great this year. I get all of my titles on release date. When I come home from work, there is always a nice little package waiting for me.

Amazon might just be oversold, by the way, I already got mine yesterday, have not watched them yet because I also got the Matrix set yesterday, so I started watching them first.

Seems like no reason to not buy them, just order them somewhere else.

cheap shipping should not matter. They are allowed to ship BEFORE the release date, as long as it isn't to arrive before the release date (how do you suppose the "amazon prime" shipments can arrive ON the release date). Amazon simply chooses not to do this, leveraging you into paying more for either the prime membership, or for higher shipping on each shipment.

They could ship early, yet choose to ship the supersaver shipping on release date (or later), as a penalty for not paying them more money.

To hell with them, and their store... I'm taking my business elsewhere.

I never said I wouldn't buy them, only that I won't buy them from Amazon... Hell, fry's prices are usually pretty close anyway, and it is good to help support local B&M stores.

Amazon is still the cheapest for me in my area. I just checked my order; delivery estimate is June 2 - June 5. Usually, my orders are shipped and delivered before this estimate, but if it's not I'm not in a rush so I can wait two weeks.

Are you really complaining about Amazon.com for movies that haven't even shipped yet?? If it matters so much pay for a faster shipping option or go to a store next Tuesday. It's a fact that they won't ship it for a day or 2 when you use the supersaver option. Amazon is still one of the cheapest and a prime membership is well worth it.

Hellooooo read the thread......

What I was saying is that they are artificially extending the time it takes for you to get the movies unless you pay them extra. THAT is the central point of my complaint, that they are ARTIFICIALLY extending the shipping time, withholding shipment to make their "prime" membership more attractive.

And if you had read the thread, you would have also read that going to a B&M store is EXACTLY what I am going to do.

Is Amazon really that much cheaper than B & M stores. I buy everything through Best Buy. They do price match for other B & M stores for up to 30 days after the purchase. I wait a few weeks after I buy a movie, and then I look online at other retailers (Wal-mart, Target, K-Mart, Suncoast, ect.), and if I find the movie for cheaper than I bought it at Best Buy, I do a Ctrl + Printscreen (copies screenshot) of the screen with the price and paste it into a word doc. Then I print it and take it to Best Buy and they refund the difference in price to my credit card. It's great. B.T.W., Target usually has great prices for blu-ray.

It's certainly not cool that this happened to you, IcemanII, but obviously there's a certain demand on preorders and they had to find some way to prioritize that limited first allotment.

By that token, the folks that paid the extra money for Prime probably got the nod over the "regular folks."

I'm not sure what other criteria they could have/might have used. Obviously it wasn't just based on how far back you preordered it.

Sorry.

At least you found out this way vs. seeing an email by the end of that business week where you suddenly find out you have another week or so to wait while you had been wondering when the goods were going to show up.

People that choose Super Saver Shipping get screwed outright. It's happened to me plenty of times in the past. Your order is deliberately put way on the back burner even if an item says "in stock and ready to ship."

JTK, Thank you, at least someone here understands my frustration. But you may give them far to much credit... I really wonder if on the date of the release they show them as out of stock, or if this whole situation is Amazon creating an artificial shortage to sell more prime memberships.

Wouldn't surprise me, either way.

In my case, I use Prime because I don't have any viable B&M stores anywhere near me. The Wal Marts are terrible and the nearest Best Buy and Circuit City are roughly an hour's drive away from where I live.

So in my case, I think I'm near one of the Amazon warehouses, so with Prime I can basically blink and the stuff shows up here.

If I had a Best Buy or something like that near me, obviously I wouldn't bother with Prime and I'd only really recommend it to people in a simillar situation to mine.
