Hi guys, I am pretty new to Blu-ray and my PS3, haven't even had it 2 months (and already have 10 BDs with 10 more incoming) and my question is how do I know I have all the settings set correctly?
The reason I ask is because some BDs look absolutely gorgeous, like Cars where others look stunning sometimes but grainy/blocky in some parts sometimes. Like in the Matrix Revolutions, there's parts where there's apparent blocky sections in the darker areas (specifically the cabinets in the foreground where the Oracle is talking to Neo in her kitchen) , but very apparent and almost like beyond my concept of how a BD should look, is this normal? I got Transformers and Iron man in the mail yesterday and popped them in all excited and yes much stuff looks bad ass but sometimes the film doesn't seem smooth it looks grainy, that's what prompted me to wonder if I have my PS3 settings right, like there's settings for RGB or YcB or something like that, a bunch of stuff, is there a guide somewhere? Thanks a lot fellas for any advice! |

make sure you are connected through your hdmi and your display settings are set to automatic. The PS3 will then detect wat resolution your TV can handle

If you never calibrated your set yourself. Just rent or buy a movie with THX (Cars for instance has this calibration test) Or buy/rent Digital Video Essentials.

Everybody says make sure to turn off bitstream, where would I do that? I swear I had it set before, but can't find it now.
I think I've got an issue with my PS3 settings because I keep moving it around and something just doesn't seem right with it now audio wise. I keep trying to hunt down an audio setting post for the PS3 because I know I've seen it in the past, but can't seem to find one. |

What do u guys think about the THX video mode on the 50pz800u?
Is it as good as having a calibration done? I have one, and have just been using it. Im even using it for ps3 games. What do u think... good or bad idea? |
