What the hell is happening?!?!?!?! Tom was the best thing that ever happened to commercial radio.

I dont want this to turn ugly and have a gazillion posts of why you hate Tom Leykis. But this truly sucks.

I will miss the old 97.1, not for Tom Leykis, but for all of the entertainment Frosty, Heidi, and Frank have given during midday.

Our 97.1 in Detroit, which was very similar to the 97.1 in LA, also had Leykis as well as Stern and others. The station switched to all sports talk a little over a year ago. Thankfully it didn't switch to a crappy Top 40 station like yours in LA.

Since 97.1 was the west coast krock-type station, could this mean NYC's krock makes the change too?

Give 106.7 wjfk in DC a try. It's one of the ONLY all talk stations left in the country from what I understand and I love it.

I listen to The Junkies in the morning and Big O and Dukes in midday on there, sometimes Mike Omeara in afternoons. You can stream it live or listen to podcasts.

One local hits station aired a series of ads saying "Why are radio stations just not playing music anymore? "

Which they satirized with scenes of DJ's wearing cardboard cutout masks of various rockstars, while doing what we are hearing on radio:
Rightwing talk, sports-chat, Dr. Phil therapy, and lame shock Howie-clones...
(While a fan in the booth reacts "Wait, YOU'RE not Beyonce'! ")

...Funny, heartbreaking, and scary in its accuracy.

I think he means to listen to it online. That station broadcasts a live stream from their site.

I figured as much when he wrote that you can stream it.
