Default Digital Copy question

Sorry, i couldn't find myanswer anywhere

I know some blurays come with digital copies and you can buy DC on itunes.. my question is... since this is an encoded version of the movie, howis the quality? If i connect my PC to my front projectoir via VGA am i going to see the same PQ as my PS3 via component to projector using the bluray disc?? or during the DC encode is the movie compressed causing PQ loss?

I believe it's a straight SD version, so it should be 480p. I could easily be wrong, but I think I'm right, as I can easily play my digital copies on my imac fullscreen and it looks just like a regular DVD. The only reason why the files so much smaller is cause it's mp4.

My wife got a digital copy with her Mama Mia disc. It certainly isn't blu-ray quality, but I was pretty surprised at how good it is. I'd say it looked better than what I have downloaded from iTunes. I was impressed.

If you are using Windows, you can try using System Restore. First set a Restore Point, then install the new version of iTunes. Transfer over your videos and when you are finished Restore your computer back to before the new iTunes was install. This process only rollsback program files, not data, so your DRM licenses should remain intact.

If you are using a Mac there may be a way to do the same thing using time machine. I'm not sure what time machine does to the DRM though.

Its lower than standard dvd resolution
its for ipod,wmv format
it is much better than vcd quality and abit lower than dvd quality

these are meant to be for portable players
not for home theater

Digital Copy's are fine for what they are. I have tons of them from all the BD's they come with. When watched on my iphone (3.5" screen) of course they look fantastic & are nothing like crappy youtube quality videos all the haters think, who have not even seen one anyway...

ok thanks guys

i was thinking maybe i could buy DC's and store them on a pc to watch on my projector instead of buying bluray but you all answered my question

P.S sometimes i wish torents would get shutdown.. stop people from downloading DVDrips of movies (axxo & FXG) to name a few, this would help sales and in return should help hollywood produce a better flick. Whats the point of them putting the extra $$ into a flick when they know like 30% of the population will steal it

The very best way to watch movies on phones.

(I hope I never have to resort to that though.)

I put all my digital copies in my computer,... in other words I use up the codes. But,.. I have no idea why I bother. I would much rather watch the Blu Ray version of any of them.

Generic DVD-ish quality.
I really don't like them because they are volitile - they can break and not play.
I test software.
Sometimes *I* trash my machine and need to restore a system image.
Did that one time and the "key" for the digital copy got wiped out.

DC on D drive, key and misc data on C drive.
Image away C drive and it takes the key and data with it.

DC no longer plays.
Asks for the key, but since it is a one-use key, you now have a file that is useless!

When I bought WALL-E, I chose the 2 disc version over the 3 disc DC version.
If I want a Digital Copy, I can just... nevermind.

i was wondering something about digi copies too, i have a few on my ipod from blu ray purchases, and they all seem to cut off part of the picture on the sides, like enough to cut parts of the words on the opening credits, and maybe the outside parts of the title screen, has anybody else noticed this? i would think if you enter the code to DL the movie straight from itunes, shouldnt ithe copy you get already be formatted to ipod screen size? is this a common thing that happens, or can i fix it by adjusting some settings?

i have a bunch of movies on my ipod, and the only movies i have downloaded via torrents are ones i already own the DVD or blu ray of, i think that if i own a copy of a movie, i should be able to put a copy of that onto my computer to be able to view it on my ipod, it seems like stealing from me to force me to buy two copies of the same movie, if digi copy would be an available function of all dvds and blu rays, i would stop downloading via torrents

that makes perfect sense.... but the other 98% who download aredoing sofor illegalpurposes. Like my brother keeps saying why bother buying bluray's when they cost so much. when you only watch the movie onceor maybe twice, just download it or go to yourlocal chinese store and get a pirated copy... and i say

Amadeus isn't even iTunes compatible. The Love Guru you need to have the newest version of iTunes for it to work.

I've never found the quality of the DCs to be outright poor but their limitation on players that can use them is a turn off. Although I have had success on VLC media player on xubuntu Linux 8.10 x86-64.
