Default Opinions on the Samsung PN63A650 Plasma?

I was looking for a 63/65" flat panel tv and came across the Sammy Plasma on Amazon for just a little over 3 grand. Anyone have any opinions on this tv?

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-PN63A650-63-Inch-1080p-Plasma/dp/B0016NATZ6/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=12354057 77&sr=8-1

Any other suggestions? I'm not looking to go smaller, has to be at least 63".

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Default Why? For your budget you can have your pick of many great 1080 front projectors.

People forget now that the technology of front projectors have advanced so much. They are now able to handle a bit of filtered light, they can be tuned to any size from a few feet to over 10 feet in screen size, and most importantly the cost is so cheap now.

You can get a 1080 front projector such as the Sanyo plv2700 for only $1599

and screens are cheap starting at $200. With your budget you can even afford some of the best rated projectors like the new Epson or Panasonic with great lumens and black levels!

To me once you have experienced a front projector you will never go back; you can get the same clarity and quality but now you are totally blown away with the huge screen size. To me once your budget is around $2k you can get a great 1080 front projector and if your budget was more like $1k to 1500 there are a huge array of 720 HD front projectors.

I have thought about doing the whole projector thing, but that would mean getting an electrical outlet put in the ceiling...seems like that would be a pain to do.

The Pioneer is $4300 on Amazon. Is it really that much better than the Samsung?

Abe's of Maine has it for a little more than 3500.

As for the projector, an outlet will only take a few minutes to put in, whereas you could spend years wondering what it would be like with a 128" screen.

Answer #1- If you're looking for something "at least" 63 inches, a projector is the best route imo. As previously stated, you could easily get a 1080P Projector and 120" screen with your budget. I'd go down this route if i were you. And installing an outlet in your ceiling is not that difficult in most cases. What size room are you working with? How is the lighting in the room? Any windows/doors??

Answer #2- Umm, 100% without a doubt. If you must get a 60"+ flat panel, Pioneer would be one of your best bets.

Best Buy currently has a good deal on the 5020, but that's only a 50" set. If you find yourself the 60" for under $3500, i'd do it!

Pioneer makes amazing flat screens, nobody will challenge you there. I think you'd be extremely happy with the 60" set. Dont forget to get it calibrated! If you spend $2k plus for a tv, you should get the best!

You can call a contractor and for $100 to $300 you can get a outlet mounted on the ceiling. You have a huge budget you could not only get what I recommended which would only be $1599 but you could afford the top rated front projectors under the 6K retail price like the Epson 6500U or the Panasonic 3000 both selling around $2500. Right now labor is ultra cheap you could get an electrical contractor to do a side job and to the outlet and any wiring for dirt.

Thumbs up size matters, to me your making a huge mistake wasting money on a tv..

For that kind of money I'd get either the Panasonic AE3000 http://www.projectorcentral.com/pana...tor_review.htm or the Epson http://www.projectorreviews.com/epso...00ub/index.php They are both around $2500 online which would give you plenty to get a fancy screen.

A front projector can be focused to the maximum size the room can handle anywhere from a few feet to over 10 feet! Front projectors are now so cheap and so much brighter that is is a no brainer if your budget is at least $1800. I have seen the largest TV's and they are weak compared to front projectors especially now that front projectors are just as clear and the size just blows a TV away. Be a man go for a real tv a projector
